Honey! {{{huuuuuugs}}}

This really was just a tiny straw for me, but it's sort of one of those things where I'm tired of my primary fannish outlet being more of a source of stress than one of fun. Like I said, it's mostly me and things that have nothing to do with anyone else.

Oh, I understand! I hope I didn't sound like I was thinking people shouldn't leave, if they need to. I'm barely active myself, and every year that goes by, it's less and less; I've always assumed I'll have to slip away from active fannishness eventually, although I imagine I will always have a toe in somehow -- it's too much a part of me for me to completely sever the link. Much like con going, LJ has ceased to be about anything fannish so much as a way to virtually hold hands with people I love who are far away from me -- if it's not on LJ then I hope it's something else. I completely understand you needing to focus on RL, and I just have to have faith that that doesn't mean you'll disappear entirely (right? RIGHT? omg *clings to you*. Oh, but hey, this is exciting for you! And you'll be on MY side of the country. yay.)

(incidentally I MISS YOU so much and I really really really wanted to send you my story to beta but I knew you were busy and didn't want to add to the burden, so you'll just have to figure out which one is mine.)

There are two things about the acquisition that are adding to my sense of stress about it -- one, that I don't want my credit card and credit information on Russian servers.

Yeah. I'm really regretting ever upgrading from a free account. It was for want of the icons! Those pesky 100x100 little crack candy. *shakes fist* I'm just about certain I'm going to go back to a free account at least until I see which way the wind is blowing. But, if what they're saying is to be believed, the servers are staying in the US and SUP is forming a US San Fransisco based company to run Livejournal. That only puts a bandaid over the issue, though.

I'm not sure how much this will really effect US based users -- SUP is more likely to run LJ into the ground before anything else, IMO.

It's definitely the potential for SUP to be after free speech combined with the flagging business that is the bad news, I'm with you on that 100%, and I don't think you're paranoid. It was first reaction, but I don't like assuming that just because a company is Russian, that automatically means they're corrupt, although I grant it is very likely. The link Klia posted, though, isn't really relieving my worries!

Btw, I'm not in the least arguing for the continuation of LJ (AT ALL), just that I'm not *yet* going to leave since there's no where else to go, and I would still find myself returnign to LJ anyway to see what everyone is doing because that's where everyone is. I'm pretty willing to leave LJ behind.
