I want Lake as his companion. I thought the chemistry was amazing. Plus I'd love him to have a Victorian companion, someone from the (our) past rather than the present or future. And Lake is so *sweet*. But having him have a kid pretty much nixes that one - we wouldn't want him to leave that child who just lost his mother. At the very least, though, "dinner" should include more than, well, dinner.
