I think this is a case of trying to have your cake and eat it too. Give the 'shippers something to amuse them while carefully avoiding sexualizing the doctor or getting girl-cooties all over him.

Not that it works, of course.

Dialogue can be like music! I'd say Sorkin's and Mamet's (I despise Mamet) come closest to that, in terms of modern screenwriters. Shakespeare's musicality is legendary, of course.
