So, here I am.

Late to the party, as usual. :) I'm finally back online at home, so figured now's as good a time as any to jump off a cliff. And jeez, seeing as I'm sitting here at 3:21am hemming and hawing over just this little bit of an intro for the last 20 minutes, I'm remembering why I was so resistant to getting one of these in the first place. Oh well, couldn't resist [livejournal.com profile] astolat's patient prodding forever, could I? :)

Hm, don't quite know how to drive this thing... prolly should friend some people or something.

Vermeer is one of my all time favorite artists.

Me too! This woman who created the image we bought does amazing work, and often uses Vermeer paintings as part of her collages. She has this sort of fusion of math and art going on, very cool. I wish I could remember her name! It'll come to me.

Yes, icons are nice. :) Although they make me stress out a bit, don't know why. I think I'm much to preoccupied with how I represent myself. All part of the neurosis, I suppose. heh.

Don't worry, that'll pass. *g* But LJ feeds into our neuroses in bad ways, sort of, doesn't it? I think that's why the best part for me is the icons. You quickly forget the neurotic part and just get to play with the pretty pictures.

Replying to myself. So sad. But I found her! Suzy Scarborough (http://www.bluespiral1.com/figure-august/scarborough16963.htm) is her name, and she's from Columbia, SC. This is one of her paintings. We couldn't afford the paintings, hence the lithograph, but they are gorgeous.

Oooh, that is cool. Kinda like a visual art spin on fanfic, isn't it? Neato.

And I'll take your word on the icon thing. *g*

Heh. I hadn't thought of it that way, but yes, you are absolutely right. That's probably why I liked it so much! Don't know if you saw these, but there were a few more paintings (http://www.bluespiral1.com/figure-august/scarborough16973-6.htm) on the next page. You can see a little bit of the writing and equations that were in the background of many of her paintings. She uses stuff from Da Vinci and other sources -- she said anywhere she can find interesting shapes and lettering. And a lot of circles and primary colors, obviously. *g* The one we got has what looks like old-fashioned woodcut lettering throughout the whole thing, and if you look closely, it's the value of pi to about 40 decimal places.
