I'm bored, but I also have a mountain of work to do. My desk is a nightmare. blergh.

I'm not watching any of the new season of television, completely lacking any desire to, although I may just have to check out the new Knight Rider, not only because of Val Kilmer, but also because of this:

NBC's Knight Rider threw viewers for a loop when FBI agent Carrie Ruvai (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) was introduced in a February television movie/pilot: She was shown climbing out of the bed she had just shared with a blond woman.

"There was a girl lying there when she was getting out bed, and I went through it like 10 times and watched it and wondered, 'Are they friends? Is that her roommate? Are they saying she's bisexual or she's gay or what?' I had to go to them and ask," said new Knight Rider executive producer Gary Scott Thompson in an interview. (He wasn't involved in the making of the TV pilot movie.)

...

"It was clear to the gay, lesbian and bi community that they knew what it was supposed to be," Thompson said in an interview from the show's Santa Clarita, Calif., set. "Others didn't get it. I knew it. They got a lot of flak about doing that, but in some ways it sets a precedent."

Thompson added: "My inclination is to leave her as she was. Why change it? But the thing about my argument is that, in the case of Anne Heche, she was straight, then bi, then a lesbian, then bi, then straight. If [Poitier's character] is actually bisexual, she would appear different ways, depending on the situation. Of course, in my book, that would make her a much more interesting character, much like Capt. Jack Harkness in Torchwood. If I could use Jack in Torchwood as a role model--I would absolutely use him as a role model--I love his conflictedness about ... everybody. He's real cool."

...

"It's such a non-issue for my generation at this point," Poitier said. "I was really surprised that people were thinking about it and that they were so concerned. Bottom line, to be honest, I don't think you are going to see her have a personal life....

I'll forgive Torchwood for many sins if it manages to turn Hollywood less homophobic.

In other news, I've finished another pass on the novel and now I'm procrastinating on writing my [livejournal.com profile] dw_femslash femslash ficathon story, as well as procrastinating on writing in general. I also got my [livejournal.com profile] hlh_shortcuts assignment on the horizon. I just sort of want to watch movies off my Netflix queue and fun British TV and not much else.

I've also been running on the weekends, and horseback riding once a week, but I still feel like I need more exercise. I stopped the yoga because it's a bit inconvenient to get to, but I should start that up again. Although, as it is I'm physically sore for most of the week. My legs are, at any rate. Sometimes it's so bad I can't cross my legs, haha, but it's all good. Maybe I'm a bit weird, or just twisted by gymnastics at an early age, but I've always enjoyed the aches and pains resulting from physical exercise.

Maybe if I finished setting up my room properly I'd feel less at odds.

Why yes, I am whiny and complainy, thank you very much. I have to deal with the fact that I have no school anymore, I'm done with the novel, and I... don't know what to do with myself. Someone come rescue me. meep.

~~~
I have a family of raccoons living near/on top/underneath my apartment building. At night I hear them on the roof (I'm on the top floor) having, I swear to God, their own Olympic track events or possibly line dancing or maybe a gang style rumble. Tea party? Whatever it is, sometimes it sounds like wacky hijinks and other times it's sounds like World War 3. I don't want to complain to the landlord about it, though, because I'd worry something bad would happen to the raccoons.
Oh, hey! Project Runway last night. )
I woke up this morning to the grating sounds of George W. Bush talking about the finanial crisis (which, hello, was not a surprise. I've been braced for banks to start folding since last year.) coming through my open window. Someone in my building was listening to him loud enough for me to be subjected. I was mostly unconcious, but still! Not the thing one wants to wake up to.
~~~

Thing that makes me happy: Doctor & Donna Moments to Reflect. Every day the [livejournal.com profile] doctor_donna comm has a different Doctor & Donna moment, and each one fills me with a lotta love and glee, even the sad ones.

~~~
Project Runway (wee spoiler for next week, only what was shown in the previews.) )
~~~

From the writer/director's info:

An abridged history of American-centric warfare, from WWII to present day, told through the foods of the countries in conflict.

Warning: Although this is done all with food, it is a bit disturbing, particularly the 911 part, just fyi[1], but well worth watching. Food Fight website. Also a go here for a list of the food used and the countries they represent.

found via Ze Frank.

[1] At least, it was disturbing for me. Who would have thunk that a tower made of burgers collapsing would be so haunting.

This picture of Stella and Jay (winner from season 1) is the most hysterical thing I've seen in a long time. OMG they're ALIENS. (no worries, no spoilers)

And speaking of spoilers, think I just spoiled myself a little bit just now when visiting the Blogging Project Runway blog. oopsie. blergh.

I attended a funeral today for one of my acting/theatre/directing teachers from high school. He was a crotchety old man all those years ago when I knew him, and from all accounts he remained such till he passed this weekend, and we all loved him for it. R.I.P Norman, we're better for having known you.

~~~
Having had a long life in theatre, TV, and film, there were a few fringe celebrity types there at the funeral, but the only one I was 'omg hold the phone' about was none other than Victor Kiriakis from Days of Our Lives. I don't care what the man's real name is, he will always be Victor to me! The only thing that would have topped that was if Stephano DiMera had shown up.
~~~

I hadn't seen some of my high school classmates since graduation. Trippy.

~~~
PROJECT RUNWAY. I need Tim Gunn in my life like I need... the right shoes and accessories to go with my outfit. I'm just saying. )
~~~

I'm under strict orders from my cousin to catch up on Battlestar Galactica so he can talk to me about it already. Been avoiding it, frankly, since last season was just all together exhausting and unremittingly dark (and convoluted), but I am curious to see what's what now. So, I finally started last night, watching Razor. Be the fraking knife blade. )

~~~
Ah, good. I'm gratified to see Moffat talking like a showrunner should. That's what I'm saying.
First, my thoughts on the finale Read more... )
Okay, and now the DRAMA. This is so 8th grade, I don't even know what to think except to say that if you managed to make Tim Gunn say bad things about you in public, then woah, dude. (And also awknowledging that Tim Gunn may be a fan favorite but I'm sure he's far from being perfect).
Interview with Tim Gunn in The Watcher, where he talks about Season 4 and his plans for his style show, and also totally rags on Victorya!
And then Blogging Project Runway has Victorya's response.
Dang.
I never much liked the way Victorya had that passive agressive bite back. Even her letter is spiteful. But neither am I thrilled with Tim Gunn airing it out in public, although I don't see why he shouldn't except that it's so 8th grade. She was a pain and he didn't like her! Well, goodness, don't get on Tim's bad side! lol.
It's funny when all the drama happens off camera and is no part of the show.
