Doctor WHO!

This is me, actually posting! Wheee! I'm alive, and good, and busy, and stuff. Yeah.

So, first off, a quick comment(s) on the 2 part premiere episode for Series 6 of Doctor Who.

Hey look, a TV show I'm actually watching more or less as it airs! On a weekly basis! This is exciting! lol.

Absence really does make the heart... forget a lot of stuff. When it comes to DW, this is GOOD.

Stuff I (mostly) LOVED:

~ Oh Eleven, ILU. I don't know, guys, I loved 9 because he was the first but I only stuck with DW because of Eccleston and because I loved Rose, and I grew to be fond of Ten even when I very very much disliked him but I also only loved him because of Rose, Martha, and especially Donna. But with Eleven I love for just himself. No other reason, he is just, well, the Doctor!!! I want to watch him ALL THE TIME.

~ Oh Rory. RORY. Okay, there's one thing I don't like about Rory and that's this on going insecurity when it comes to Amy. That can end, like 15 episodes ago, imo. But aside from that admittedly very annoying thing that that I can't really blame Rory for because Rory is blameless, Rory is my new favorite companion. YES TIMES ELEVENTY. (hee, see what I did there!)

~ The Doctor is clearly a little in crush with Rory, and who can blame him, really.

~ Oh hey Mark Sheppard, you crafty bastard. Mark Sheppard's IMDB page (I had to go there to find the real spelling of his name) says "Frequently plays Cunning and Intelligent Villains and Anti-Heroes" haha. And don't we all know it. So much so that it was an honest-to-goodness surprise that Canton did not end up being evil. I approve!

~ River Song. Much like many others who were hesitant at first and reluctant to like her, I too have grown fond. So much so that now I actively dislike Doctor/River. Moffat (I assume I can blame him haha) has at least allowed her some 3 dimensional moments that weren't entirely gimmicky and I like that trend. Less gimmick = good! I do wish it wasn't to make her yet another woman who's life is given over to the Doctor, but hey, this is Doctor Who, and I guess that's way too revolutionary a thought. And why should Moffat be different from RTD just because everyone seems to think he is? (did I say that out loud?) So, whatever. She was cool. The kiss was hilarious and I cannot, on principle, dislike it when the Doctor is kissed or kisses. If I had my way, he'd be kissed far more often. But at the same time I was... well, intrigued I guess, that they seem to have chosen to really show a sexual relationship. That's all kinds of shocking! I'm okay with innuendo and veiled references, or mostly okay, and I'm more than okay for it to be explored in fanfic, but I don't know how I feel about it being more overt on the TV show. Funnily, while I don't really trust Moffat at all, I do trust the actors to make it work, so, whatever it ends up being I'm sure I'll enjoy it in some fashion. And honestly, this Doctor in particular needs to be kissed and kiss others. And often. Preferably by/with Rory. They can be sweet kisses on the head. I'm not picky.

~ The plot was mostly fun, and confusing, and fun, and ridiculous, and made no sense, and sometimes eye-rolly, but then fun again, and most of what I didn't like was steamrolled over by the pace, which is to be expected at this point, and I so do not watch Doctor Who for the plot anyway. What a silly notion. As if. I laugh hysterically. If the show can manage not to make me want to throw things at the TV computer, I'm okay with whatever plot their blessed little heads want to spin, as long as the Doctor is fabulous and he and Rory are cute together. Really, I don't ask for much.

~ LOL Nixon.

~ I know I haven't said much about Amy. I like her. I'm DEEPLY annoyed by the continuing triangle thing. I thought we might be over that ANNOYING device last series when Rory and Amy got married. I'm super okay with a threesome thing, it's not that I don't want them to all love each other and have wacky threesome tardis sex or even just tardis kisses. But this continuing dynamic is annoying!! Did I mention it was annoying? 'Cause it is. Stop making Rory pine and be all insecure! Just stop. Each time I think 'ah this time, this time will be the last,' it's NOT. And if they actually carry this forward to have Rory's fears actualized in some fashion, I will NOT be happy.

~ I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone suggest that the little girl at the end isn't Romana, who always seems to be the goto guess for any suggestion of a possible female time lord. I'm more intrigued that, whomever it is (if it's not a fake out, which it probably is, but then you never know) is a little girl time lord. I just, you know, assumed they were always represented as adults. And if it is Amy's baby by the Doctor, see my previous comment. :(

~ And finally, Rory + Doctor = AWESOME
