Happy New Year and Story Reveal Day!

It comes to my attention that for those of us in fandom, January 1st is so much more than just the first day of the new year. *g*

~~~
I did not play in the Yuletide pond this year. When signups where happening, things were looking to be extra-complicated with my family, but then it all calmed down. By then the deadline had passed. Oh well!
But I did write for the [community profile] hlh_shortcuts fest. Whee!
As a gift, I received a wonderful story written by [personal profile] pat_t -- Love and Beyond. I loved this story, that truly shows the strength of friendship between Duncan and Methos.
For my story, I wrote
About Today
Highlander, D/M (ish)
about 3700 words
all audiences
for [personal profile] tryfanstone!
Originally the plan was to have 3 different AUs, one where Duncan dies, one where Methos dies, and then one where they both died, but quite frankly I ran out of conflict in the main part and the story seemed to want to be just the two possible AUs. I also couldn't figure out what order I wanted it, meaning should I have the double death first? or the single deaths first? argh! And then, also, this idea (which, the germ of it I had kicking around in my head for a couple of years) is cool, I grant you, I personally love it and was reasonably pleased with the outcome, but there are certain logistical issues when writing about Immortals, with their projecting presence and their immortal healing that occasionally makes me want to pull my hair out. I hoped very much that [personal profile] tryfanstone would like it. :)
Also, the tone and feel of this story had a lot to do with the song I eventually took as the title. I wanted to quote the whole song.
Absolutely loved it. It was so very obvious that so much care and thought had gone into that story.
But here to say, thank you so much for posting the unexpected addition of that youtube video. It really does add to the story - listening, and then going back and re-reading, was a real pleasure.
Thank you so very much all over again!
