In real time, I believe it's only 4 days. There's a line of Martha's in "Sound of Drums" that they arrive home on the day after the election, and she's only been gone for 4 days or so.
Trust me, it's confusing. And I still can't figure out *why* the whole of series 3 is confined to, erm... a week. Ish.
I think the prevailing theory is that the TARDIS landed to refuel on the rift in the tease of "Utopia" some time after Christmas but before the election (the TARDIS being stuck when the Master steals it with only a window of 18 months), and so while Martha was only gone 3 days, he was gone much longer, as "Sound of Drums" is set in June 2008.
In short, it's a big plot hole.
(I just pulled AHistory off the shelf to check, even tho Lars used my notes along with nnwest's TW timeline for that section. Cos it was faster and easier than trying to find that LJ post. I R GEEK YS.)
