So this birthday thing comes around every year! Crazy.

For my birthday I,
* Took the day off work, even though it's a Wednesday. Even though I have so much work.
* Bought a new laptop. I already have 3! Now I will have 4. But in my defense, I only really use 1 of them (the macbook). One is a work pc laptop, another is not really usable. And I wanted one for travel that's not my precious mac.
* Went on a hike! I started a bit too late so I couldn't do my usual 3 mile hike, but I got 2.5 miles in so that's nice. Lovely to hike on a workday.
* Went to see Thunderbolts again. Read more... )
* Had yummy teppanyaki-style Japanese food for dinner with my some of my closest friends
* Get to ride pony tomorrow!

Breezing through LJ real fast to dump some happy thoughts on the new Captain America movie, which I completely loved. *heart eyes*

I've seen it a few times in the theaters. It makes me happy. And I've wanted to share my thoughts but haven't managed till now. Let's blame work. So much to post about! Not enough brain. Or time. But I'm waiting for my mom at her dr appointment so maybe I can get this done now.

Brave New World )

Oof, I'm truly shocked to see that the last time I posted to DW was in January! Good grief, the months have just melted away. I'm around! I read DW! I'm definitely more active on tumblr, or at least I reblog stuff there a lot.

My main excuse is work. Easy to blame work. Work is work! It's always work. Just...working. So annoying. That damn work. And no, nothing has slowed down since the strikes concluded. the talk in the industry is less work, but not for me! Jeez.

Also, I turned 50 this year /o\, in May. And I meant to post about it but failed. For my birthday, I went on a 4 days horseback riding/camping trip around the Eastern Sierras in California, pretending I was a cowboy, got bitten by a lot of bugs, rode down a mountain in the middle of a hailstorm with a cute halflinger pony named Hanz (Hanzie if you're special), and saw some wild mustangs. All in all, a good way to ring in the next half century.

Still carrying on from that adventure, I am currently on a 2 week vacation from work (WHOOO HOOO!) and about to embark on yet ANOTHER camping trip, this time without the horses, 4 days hiking on my own 2 legs in Death Valley. I leave Wednesday.

In prep for the hiking trip, I've been pretty much hiking non-stop (lie: i stopped during the summer heat) since January. I'd say I'm in decent shape, but people regularly pass me on the steep inclines. I do not have a big stride.

Stuff I watched, fandoms I love:

1. I think I failed to mention just how much I loved (LOVED) Loki, seasons 1 and 2. Especially season 2. TVA forever! (Also, I love anything with Wunmi Mosaku.) To know that Loki is out there, holding all the strings of the universe, the very center, heart, of yggdrasi, and because time is Time, that means he's been the center the entire time... just *mind blown.*

2. After yuletide last year, I got sucked back into Ocean's 11, and pretty much haven't really left all year. But then, out of curiosity, in a mood to watch more Clooney, I thought I'd watch just a few episodes of ER to see the young Dr Ross, which I hadn't seen at all since 1996 or something, and then couldn't stop and I watched ALL OF IT. 15 gd seasons. It was like that time I got sucked into SPN. So many episodes! Jeez! And there isn't much of a slash fandom either which is weird. i thought I'd sworn off medical dramas but I guess never say never? 'cause then I started Grey's Anatomy and that dang monster is 20 plus seasons! Anyway, the best parts of ER are the first 6 years. Doug/Carol 4eva!

3. Agatha All Along -- I did not expect this series to be as good as it is. Love me some lesbian witches! Good times. Same SR as Wandavision, and it shows. AAA, WV, and Loki are the best Marvel tv series they've produced. Hands down. Though I have a soft spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, because I am first and foremost always here for Sam Wilson <3 (and Bucky!). I'm cautiously excited for Brave New World. I'm a little more nervous about Thunderbolts.

4. Deadpool & Wolverine -- Okay, now. I sort of enjoyed Deadpool 1 and Deadpool 2, I mean, they were okay, but, I don't know, I didn't really love either much. The humor was crass and the 4th wall breaking was sort of tedious. And, RR doesn't really do it for me. So, I did not go into Deadpool & Wolverine really expecting anything more than more of the same that we saw with DP 1 and 2, even with the addition of Wolverine -- cause, to be perfectly honest, I am not a huge X-Men fan. But boy howdy, I watched Deadpool & Wolverine like 5 times in the theaters. I truly loved it. Also, my girlfriend Wunmi (Hunter B15) was in it so automatic win. And I adore these characters now, and I'm invested in their fates and futures. I guess I'm a fan now!

Okay, that's a pretty good catch up of stuff and nonsense for now.

Am I the only one that loved this movie?

Went to see the third (and final? who knows) Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday.

Before I cut away for spoilers, quick PSA for anyone sensitive to animals in film and TV may want to check Does The Dog Die.

It's all about Rocket Raccoon )

All in all, a good ending. The audience I saw it with loved it.

Summary:

What if Steve was found in the ice a year earlier? And, when Odin banished Thor from Asgard, the Bifrost sent him to Brooklyn, instead? A What If story.

Hello! This was written for the Thundershield Valentine's Day Exchange. First time in like 10 years I've written in a fic exchange that wasn't for Highlander! I had a blast. The other Exchange art and stories can be found here.

True to standard operating procedure 'round these parts, I waited too long to start, aimed to write a quick 4K or 5k story, and ended up rewriting the entire first Thor movie (well, without the Asgard parts) in like 5 days and over 10K words. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was SO MUCH FUN though. Especially, somehow, the Steve & Coulson scenes were a blast. I am not the biggest Coulson fan but I appreciate his character in the films. Also Steve and Thor are cute together. Just saying. Also also, especially a just-out-of-the-ice Steve Rogers and a just-banished-from-Asgard-and-mortal Thor. ❤️️ I love canon-divergent stories!

Because I waited too long, and because the word count was mushrooming, I had to kind of motor through some parts. In reality, this should have probably another 5000 words to unpack some scenes, and I kind of just slapped on an epilogue. But I like it anyway. Hope you like it, too!

Rated explicit in AO3 to be on the safe side but it's really barely an R rating imo.

I want a She-Hulk/Leverage crossover where Jen Walters has to work with the Leverage team and combine forces with Jimmy Papadakalis. Better yet, there should be some way to stick Saul Goodman in there as well. Maybe also Elsbeth Tascioni from The Good Wife. We're already getting Matt Murdoch! Let's have Foggy too please! I want all the most hilarious and colorful TV attorneys to do a big crossover episode. hahaha. I amuse myself.

She-Hulk spoilers )

And also I just realized I never commented on Moon Knight or Ms. Marvel or Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, all of which I enjoyed for the most part.

Not really spoilers for Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel and Multiverse of Madness )

Okay I wasn't going to watch the trailer for Spider-Man No Way Home because I actually don't like trailers all that much, but then I knew I wasn't going to be able to avoid it so I did watch it. But this is all to say that Read more... )

For weeks I've been meaning to post! Everything is pretty okay on my end, though still in that weird WFH limbo of sameness that I dislike the most from this pandemic. As much as I hated the Trump administration at least it gave me something to push against during this weird time, but now I am just like Tuesday what is Tuesday?

It's not even Tuesday, it's Thursday. What the hecking heck. The weeks are only separated by my horseback riding lessons on Saturdays -- I still work on Saturdays to take the edge off of the workload -- and the fact that I hibernate more than usual on Sundays lol.

Tonight I am going to go see Jungle Cruise and am excite about it. Never enough Dwayne the Rock Johnson in my opinion.

~~~
All right. I've watched some TV recently.
Hannibal )
Agents of Shield )
Leverage: Redemption )
Okay that's enough yammering.
~~~

I went to see Black Widow 3 times in the theaters and I don't regret it at all. It is now among my favorite MCU films, joining The Winter Soldier and Thor Ragnarok.

I also went to see The Green Knight which is a trip. I don't know what the heck I watched. It's beautiful though. And Dev Patel is so handsome in it. Stunning visual film.

I loved every second of this film. Every second.

eta: I was convinced the young actress who played child Natasha was Milla Jovovich's daughter, and I was right.

I had planned to watch it again today but now I'm seeing the F&F9 instead. But I'll see Black Widow several more times before it's gone from the theaters!

In other news -- I'm stupid busy at work. I fell off my horse and you can see video of it on instagram and fb. In the last month I've: a) been to a house party with lots of people, b) been to an outside event with lots of people, c) went to my office for the first time and saw people. I got hugged a lot at all these things! So many people! I'm not ready for all this human contact. But it keeps happening.

I also watched all of Hannibal and all of Agents of Shield, but those will have to wait for anther day's post.

AHHHH so much to write about so little time. :/

Quickly (hah), my thoughts on the first episode of LOKI behind the cut:

Glorious Purpose )

Anyway, i have more to post about stuff but am so behind on work. booooooo.
hafital: (Default)
okay I lied it totally is

1) I rode a sassy mare this morning. [personal profile] killabeez says her facial scars give furiousa vibes!

b) sushi will happen at one point

tres) i'm off from work for a week! i hardly know what to do with myself. mom has booked an appointment in a harmonic egg (a very mom thing to do). all I can think of is I wish it were mork's egg from mork & mindy.

IV) I rewatched The Falcom and The Winter Soldier all in one sitting, all 6 hours. And, if you have the time and the inclination, I highly recommend to do that! I loved it even more than watching it the first time and personally think the lead up to the ending links together better when you at least watch the last 3 eps all together. Spellman said he broke the story in 3 acts to be a 6 hour movie and then rebroke it into 6 episodes with a 5 act structure. Good lord.

There was more I wanted to say about TFATWS but I don't remember what it was. Probably complaining about complainers. That's my thing right now.

5) I watched Julie and the Phantoms and season 9 of American Horror Story at the same time. Just after finishing watching Supernatural. And I've decided they all exist within the same universe. Do not contradict me. GHOSTS ARE EVERYWHERE. Some of them might even be dancing and singing.

VI) Speaking of Supernatural, I watched the Aronofsky film mother! and immediately thought of Chuck. lol.

siete) I am loving The Bad Batch on Disney +, the new Star Wars, Clone War adjacent animated tv show about the defective clones. It's great. I love it. A +++

ocho) complaining )

I forget what nine was for) How awesome was that Venom 2 trailer, huh? I am excite.

TEN TEN TEN) Can't wait for Loki! Though, dude, I am finally going to get Black Widow. It's been a long year. Whooooo.

11) I am half vaccinate! soon I will be full vaccinate!

12) someone stop me from compulsively checking my work email. bah.

I've been putting a lot of thought into this final episode and what's going to happen. Serious thought. So here are 5 (actually 6) very serious predictions for the final episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series. Seriously.

5 Things That Probably Won't Happen in Ep 6 of TFATWS. Probably.... No, Definitely Not. Or...Maybe? )
