get me off this crazy thing

I guess the trick to getting me to watch broadcast television[1] again is promising me more 24, Jack Bauer, and Chloe O'Brian. The last time I watched a TV show as it aired was season 8 of 24. So! Yeah.

( You probably think I'm at a disadvantage. I promise you, I'm not. )

Also, quite without intention, I have become absolutely in love with Leverage. I never finished watching it past midway through season 2, and even when I started watching it again on Netflix, it wasn't until seasons 4 and 5, and the character growth shown in the final season for all the characters, and the basically canonical threesome that I actually began to pay attention, and had to rewatch again. I love shows like this, low stress, found family, characters stay in character but still grow and change, and they so clearly love each other. It's like a big love fest.

Maybe I'll talk more about why I love Leverage, and how more TV shows would do better to emulate at least the character consistency. I mean, as a writer and a creator of content, I can't say now much Leverage pleased me. But, right now I have to get back to line edit hell. oy.

Lastly, I highly recommend Jon Favereau's new film Chef. It was delightful.

[1] except for the Olympics. The Olympics will always get me to turn my TV on.

Day 22 - Favorite series finale

I had to think about this one for a while and then I realized I sort of answered it already by accident in a previous post. The Office UK not only has my favorite kiss, but it also has one of the most satisfying endings for a televisions how I've ever watched. I literally jumped up and down with glee.

Most TV shows, even the ones that end really well, I always want more, or somethings could have been done better, or there are things left unresolved (and that can be good or bad), or there's a longing, or a sadness (again sometimes good and bad), but The Office UK is the only show I can think of that ends perfect. There's not a wrong step, and I've rarely been more thrilled, and more happy and just plain satisfied. And I was also happily done. I didn't particularly need more, or want more, it was just absolutely perfect.

Other finales that come close:

Ashes To Ashes -- Bittersweet, and heartbreaking, but so well done, and all the questions were answered!

24 -- I could not have asked for a better final season, or a better finale for 24. The acting was stunning, the characters were soaked in blood but alive and what's more true to themselves. My one regret was that Tony wasn't there, but clearly Jack's off to go find him. YES HE IS. After 8 seasons of torture, betrayal, death, and sacrifice, it was awesome to witness the end of pretty amazing tv show, and watch it end well.

Things were hectic with me, so I wasn't able to watch it till just recently, and as typical with 24, once I started I couldn't stop!

Is it just me, or is this season kind of amazing? I mean, I'm an easy sell for 24 -- I still am rather fond of day 6 despite its trainwreck-ness -- so, granted, it might not take much to make me love it, but I had felt day 8 had started off a bit weak, yet it's only gotten stronger with each episode. I've been completely riveted.

I wasn't surprised that 24 would not be continuing after this season, and truth be told I'm relieved! Not because I don't love the show like crazy, but it's exhausting just watching it and I'm not sure what else this show can explore without absolutely destroying the characters we (I) love. However, seeing how awesome this season has been so far, and also there have been certain developments that I would love to see play out further in another season. But, again, I think in general ending the show is probably a good call, and they get to end on a very high note, imo. (plus they say there's going to be a movie).

Yay I had a lovely New Year's Eve celebration with astolat. In conclusion, Adam Lambert is adorable, but many of us knew that already. He's fun. He can stay. *g*

yuletide 2009 reveal!

Life was such that I could only write the one main story this year. This was the first time I didn't do a pinch hit or an extra story as a gift and I was a bit sad about that, but there was literally no way I could do another story, although I thought about it. Anyhoo, my story:
