hi hi hello! Here are things to ponder:

1. for REASONS, I did complete rewatches of Star Trek Voyager, Highlander: The Series, and Justified, all at the same time, in a sort of juggling manner that defied logic. I don't know what was going on with me, but it took pretty much all 2023 till now haha. I actually did TWO rewatches of Justified because I love it that much, and I wanted it fresh for the new series. And I'm in love with both Tim and Raylan. It's true, and I am not ashamed. Also, Raylan has never done anything wrong ever and i WILL fight you on this. But, after all that, have I started the new Justified series yet? No, i haven't, because I'm a weirdo who needed the entire series available before I started for some reason. And then got distracted by Ahsoka. And then distracted by adventuring. But will start in on Silver Fox Raylan The Series next week.

2. THEN, i did a complete rewatch of Star Wars REBELS, because it continues to be the best dang Star Wars property and I WILL fight you on that. Also, I wanted to rewatch before the Ahsoka series, which I have now watched the first 2 episodes. (queue internal yelling over Sabine and Ahsoka and Hera and Chopper! aaaah) (also also I am very sad over Ray Stevenson who so far is great in the series ugh my heart) Why I can watch the Ahsoka series as it airs and not Justified as it aired is a mystery we all most live with. Me most of all.

3. Randomly and taking EVERYONE in my life by complete surprise, I booked 2 separate kayaking trips in the ocean and an overnight backpacking camping trip to Catalina Island. Sadly, kayaking aggravated my right hand RSI and then the second kayaking trip got canceled because of a hurricane or something, but the backpacking camping trip is a go for this weekend. Have y'all ever backpacked? That shit is hard core hello. I've been conditioning for the last 3 weeks treking all over my neighborhood and in through one of the local canyons with 30ish pounds strapped to my back. I'm not sure i'm ready to climb a mountain but i feel more in my body than I have since before the pandemic. Planning a second backpacking 3 day trip to the Pacific Crest Trail next year!

4. I LOVED rewatching Highlander. It's like hanging out with my immortal besties. <3

5. I LOVED rewatching Voyager. It's like hanging out with my space besties. <3

6. I LOVED rewatching Star Wars Rebels. But it's NOT like hanging out with my Jedi besties. It's like watching my loved ones be heroic and tragic and it makes me emotional. I'm never going to get over Kanan and Hera. *cries forever* Also this time around I'm even more of a Kallus/Zeb girl than I was before.

7. The strikes don't appear close to ending. :( I have no inside knowledge just that we stand firm. Personally, it's a bit wearying. Please to be ending soon now.

8. In other random tv and/or movie watching news, I loved the live action The Little Mermaid. I know, it's weird and off brand for me, and the animated movie is one of my least favorite, but the two leads were so pretty and sweet and earnest. I enjoyed Barbie, and had a blast watching The Meg 2. I also randomly started watching The Walking Dead and JAG (seriously, could I be more of a mixed bag of random things?? who even am I????) both of which have stalled while I become entirely obsessed with finding just the right sleeping bag for my adventures.

9. I was THIS CLOSE to going to Disney California Adventureland to see Rogers the Musical before it disappeared at the end of this month. THIS CLOSE. I was totally going to do it, but a) i felt weird going to Disney right now with the strikes and was like well if the strikes end before the end of August then I will go but CLEARLY that's not happening, and b) I'm spending so much money on camping stuff as it is.

Um, probably forgetting other things to list. Also, i'm in an abuse capitals sort of mood I guess. That's it for now. *waves!*

I was TRYING to write but like one casual scroll through tumblr yesterday and I might as well have been at Comic Con lol.

Though I have been to Comic Con a couple of times, for a like a day only, and both times it was the most overstimulating experience I have ever been through, that I will only subject myself to again if it's for work.

Spoilers ahoy.

And then all the Marvel/MCU news came like stampeding buffalos lol. Can a girl catch her breath?

Hello good peoples! I am here, and doing well. Been meaning to post and thank everyone for the comments on my previous post. I read each one of them and they meant a lot, so thank you.

quick update on the fam )

~~

I was very sorry to read about [profile] suzecarol. I got to know her a little bit in the Highlander fandom. She had a larger-than-life personality, a tad intimidating, always funny, and she was very kind and encouraging to me personally, and I remember her fondly and with much love.

~~

From just before my father's death, till now, I have been watching episodes of Clean House on netflix. For some reason, only a few seasons are available for streaming, but I suppose that's all right. I don't know what I'm going to do without it!! I've never been one for these sorts of reality televisions make-over shows, and I couldn't tell you a) how Clean House ended up on my netlfix queue, or b) what made me click on it and start watching. But let me tell you it was a God send during the more stressful weeks! And also, I feel like a paragon of housecleaning in comparison. haha. Anyway, I had fun tv crushes on almost everyone of the Clean House team. :D

~~

Clean House sort of took over there for a bit, and it was literally the only thing I could watch (well, that and Star Trek Voyager.) but I have recommenced my Xena: Warrior Princess watching and have finally arrived at season 6, most of the gods have been killed and I'm wondering how it's all going to end. I admit it was a bit of a push to get through those earlier seasons but I have liked most of seasons 4 and 5. Although, I was GREATLY DISAPPOINTED that netflix doesn't have "Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire" for streaming. It skips right over it. WTF? Darned music rights. I was so looking forward to Jace! And I am a bit bummed about Joxer. :(

~~

There is a new Star Trek tv show filming. Star Trek: Renegades. I am both excited and terrified. /o\ Mostly terrified, I'm not gonna lie.

Incidentally, the actress who played Eve in Xena is a captain in Renegades, so that's cool. And Tuvok's in it, which is also cool.

~~

Everything else is pretty groovy over here. Still horseback riding. Editing and horseback riding, that's my life. Did my second jump show last weekend and did not disgrace myself, so yay. Video was taken but I haven't gotten it yet. Hopefully once I do get it I'll figure out how to share it.

I rode one of my favorite ponies today. His name is Sharky, but affectionately called Pigpen because he is a slob. He is an almost all white Pony of the Americas, who was probably cut late because he is studish and likes to mount other horses. He does not discriminate but mounts mares and geldings, big and small. Considering he's just barely 14 hands, seeing him go for the ass of an 18 hand gelding is both hilarious and ridiculous. He is also hung like an 18 hand horse. I mean, it's like a third leg back there. When he drops, it's kind of obscene, and HUGE. We had him tested to make sure he wasn't still a stallion, you know the kind that didn't drop their testicles, but no, he's fully cut, so we give him girly hormones to reduce the studishness and basically turn him into a mare, but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. So he's full of himself, cute, a good jumper, excellent western horse, a total brat, likes to stick out his tongue, is randy, and a slob. <3 <3

Here I am with another quick update for you, my most dearest of friends. All you VVC folks, I thought of you all weekend! And knew you were all having a great time and that made me happy. I actually bought a supporting membership, so I'm looking forward to receiving a shiny new DVD.

Unfortunately, there isn't much of fun below the cut, although it's nothing too dire.

In no particular order: )

In more fannish news...

I went to see Pacific Rim, without realizing it had giant robots and giant lizards in it.... And well, Nathan is all grown up! Mostly I thought the film was a bit exhausting, but good fun. Not at all fannish about it. My biggest complaint, though, is why weren't there any girl/girl teams? wtf.

Then, I also went to watch World War Z, which was super stressful omg! I was basically a pretzel the entire time watching. I liked this film better than Pacific Rim, but it kind of fell apart for me a little at the end, but still, it was pretty cool.

I finished all of Fringe, which was great. I was worried )

I also watched all of Game of Thrones, which... I don't know. Am I the only one that has major issues with GoT? Not really enjoying it.

I also started watching Xena on Netflix, which I had never really watched before outside of an episode here or there. It's totally ridiculous, which I knew going in, and you know, mostly I find it a bit of a chore to keep watching actually, but I do love Xena and Gabrielle and they're not-really-text-but-more-than-subtext relationship. It's funny watching all those New Zealand actors popping up right and left...

Tumblr has me almost caving on doing an X-Files rewatch. I've resisted so far... But you know what they say about resistance.

Still happy rewatching Star Trek: Voyager. This show is like a warm, fuzzy blanket. My love for Janeway has pretty much exploded and I'm not sorry. Back in the day, although I always loved her, I wasn't really into reading J/C but now I find myself reading J/C babyfic and god help me WANTING MORE. Yes. Which is only outshone in my desire for Janeway/Paris babyfic, which god help me I WANT EVEN MORE and there's far fewer of it although there is some. Now you know my secret and can judge me accordingly. And although there is one or two J/C/P fics out there, no one has written the fic of my heart. SADNESS.

Aside from controlling my raging star trek voyager addiction, I find myself STILL thinking about the Fast and the Furious films. So far, they've been my favorite thing this summer. I did finally get to see Tokyo Drift, which was a better film than I thought it would be, although the thing that I DO NOT WANT was a harsh reminder at the end. :( I'm too lazy to do another cut tag, but I leave you with this image: Han and Gisele.

FYI, I think Sung Kang is obscenely good looking. Like, holy smokes, mister, do something about that because you're blinding.
hafital: (Default)
Procrastination! YES.

I saw this on my tumblr dash but I have no idea how one is supposed to respond to this type (or really any type) of meme on tumblr so I'm doing it here instead. This is exactly the type of meme I love to answer because sometimes months or years later when you look back and see your answers you're like "omg why did I answer Pulaski for every question?? what was I thinking?" haha.

Um. This is long. And I may not have an answer for each of these. My memories of DS9 are murky, at best.

Rewriting is a bitch.

~~~
I meant to comment on Lost Girl, both seasons, which I actually managed to finish a couple of months ago, but then I got distracted by so many things I've lost count now. Anyway, I truly loved it although I was a little underwhelmed by the main plot of most of the second season.
~~~

I have signed up for [community profile] hl_chronicles! yay! Haven't a clue which story to choose, though. o.O

Oh, and I was very much remiss not to publicly acknowledge and admire the lovely pic [personal profile] nrrrdy_grrrl made for the 20 years challenge for my story Crash of Light. You can see it here. I love it. I can't say I thought much about where they would be in 20 years after the end of that story, but naturally they would still be together. And in kilts. Yes. :D :D

~~~
I haven't seen the Avengers. This is woeful, but I'm sure it will eventually be remedied, somehow. I am not much into this fandom but I have been enjoying most of these films, so I'm eager to see this thing that so many of you like so much.
~~~

I managed to acquire all of the Harry Potter audiobooks as read by Stephen Fry (UK version) and then listened to them no less than 3 times, all the way through. Possibly four times. I'm a bit fuzzy on that. Talk to me if you would like them. I'm sure we can figure out a way.

They are as near to perfect as can be. Although Stephen Fry's Fleur Delaceur made me think of Maurice from Highlander which was possibly the most unintentionally hilarious thing ever and sent me regularly into giggle fits while driving.

~~~
May was one busy (understatement!) month. I'm hoping that things will be less ridiculous from here on out. One can hope.
~~~

Yes, the family continues to be somewhat bonkers. Dad is feeling better, so I'm told. Mom was having trouble with her eyesight, but I guess that's also a bit better, although she called me in tears the other day for I don't even know what. She was feeling down, I guess. Sister went back to an inpatient clinic for a couple of weeks. She should be back out again by the end of the week. I've been speaking with her a little more regularly which is good. She's a hot mess, though.

~~~
LJ sent me an email about their migrating scrapbook for pictures, which I confess I hardly paid attention to, but I finally checked it out today and rather rediscovered all my icons! I almost forgot all about them. Many of them are a bit so so or worse, but a few of them are quite lovely. So many Oz icons, I had forgotten that I was doing all that. I stopped when my old computer got rained on and this new one (well, it's no longer new) has a version of photoshop that I find annoying. sigh.
~~~

Oh! I remembered something I wanted to say! I finally (FINALLY) finished watching all of Deep Space Nine. Only took me three years.... I thought I would never get out of the Dominion War, was getting a bit desperate there. When I hit the Ezri episodes I knew I was almost done! lol. (And weirdly, adore Ezri, always have, and a lot more than I liked Jadzia. I know, I'm weird, what can I say) And have joyfully begun Star Trek: Voyager. If you recall (or you don't recall...) I was attempting to watch all of Star Trek in chronological order, but the experiment has not really been, um, attended to with much diligence, sadly. And I had meant to watch the TOS and TNG films at the appropriate times but that never seemed to happen. Anyways, I have begun Voyager and I am awash in total complete love. I only watch it here and there, when I want to snack on an episode and, you guys, it's my show! sigh. I couldn't tell you why I love this show out of all the trek shows so much but I do.

Too bad the show was popular in that awkward period of fandom when so many began to host their fiction on private websites that have vanished. It was always rather the redheaded stepchild of the franchise. Hunting down fiction is like doing major archeological excavations. *pets it lovingly*

When did Bonnie Wright become absolutely gorgeous? I hardly recognize her! Where's the sweet little girl who said "Good Luck" to Harry at platform 9 and 3/4?

Dude, that rhymes! hah.

Name fifteen favorite fannish pairings (het/slash/canon/fanon), and ask people if they notice any common traits/tendencies in the pairings you choose. Try to pick different fandoms.

I was tempted to put Duncan/Methos fifteen times. lol.

1. Duncan/Methos (Highlander)
2. Dorothy/Ozma (Oz books)
3. Jack/Tony (24)
4. Vinnie Terranova/Roger Lococco (Wiseguy)
5. Kirk/Spock (Star Trek... oh heck, either incarnation)
6. Tom Paris/Chakotay (ST: Voy)
7. The Doctor/Rose Tyler (SUCK IT, LOSERS) (Doctor Who)
8. Elizabeth Bennet/Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride & Prejudice)
9. Mary/Parks (Gosford Park)
10. Danny Ocean/Rusty Ryan (Ocean's 11)
11. Sirius/Remus (Harry Potter)
12. Jack Sparrow/Elizabeth Swann/Will Turner (what?) (Pirates of the Caribbean)
13. Catherine/Henry (Northanger Abbey)
14. Sydney/Vaughn (Alias)
15. Harry/Gay Perry (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)

I notice no tendencies other than I'm possibly cracked in the head.

Thanks to mysteriously wonderful [livejournal.com profile] gray_bard, I present to you all the Keeping Up With The Cardassians Episode Guide

Brilliant highlights:

Episode Two

A sex tape featuring Legate Damar's daughter Kata and two Ferengi club owners circulates around the Federation of Planets. Dukat posts a rant on his blog dissing Snoop Dogg and starts a West Coast–Delta Quadrant rap war.

Episode Three

Legate Damar's daughters want Lil Wayne to sing at their sweet-16 party. After much convincing, Lil Wayne agrees to do it in exchange for a Galor-class starship with custom Romulan rims. Garak's daughter Seska drops a record and sets out on a tour to promote her new single, "Touch My Nebula."

Episode Five

The Damar girls go shopping on Rodeo Drive and their intergalactic MasterCard is denied. They call their father, who tells them money doesn't grow in replicators. Seska meets the Jonas Brothers on tour; rumors of Joe Jonas caressing her neck ridges at a Grammy party surface on Perez Hilton.

omg you guys, is Seska really Garak's daughter?? And how sad and completely geeky is it that that's part that I was all omg whut? lol.

Brilliant. Trust McSweeney's to be just ridiculously awesome.

New job is SCARY. And the less I complain about that the better. *stressssss*

~~~~
So, am I the only one that does a double take each time someone (usually the television) talks about the reality tv show Keeping up with the Kardashians and think they're saying Keeping up with the Cardassians?
And then I think about a reality TV show with Dukat and Garak and Damar all living together in the same house and Garak has his clothing shop and Dukat has all the dating adventures, and Damar is the long suffering sister who just wants to be normal. HILARITY AND WACKY ADVENTURES ENSUE. They must all have time out in the confessionals, and at the very least Garak would have a blog.
Clearly, I need another vacation.
