If you were Methos, what would you drink at the funeral of the most famous king of Phrygia?
Well, funny you should ask, because it just so happens Methos would most likely be drinking some Golden Elixir. Or maybe Darius, too. He's just about old enough.
cesperanza doubted me (she did!) when I told her about this ancient beer/wine mixture. And it does sound kind of horrible. *g* Although the reviews say it's quite good, but there's no way it tastes the same as it did circa 700 bc. This website talks all about the Tomb of King Midas, the excavation, and the discovery and analysis of the feast remains. Due to some remarkable preservation, archeologist were able to recreate the entire feast, which they did. Pretty cool! Of course, there's really no way to ensure any accuracy in the recreations. Even if the actual recipes were found, which they weren't. Still, pretty cool. One of those things that would make an interesting HL story.... Seacouver U is one of the nations top schools in Iron Age archeology, doncha know. *g*
