Aug. 26th, 2003 11:33 amThis article from Bookmagazine.com does a nice rundown of the upcoming fall literary adaptations, of which there are many. Be sure to click for the second page and read Steven King's Short List, Type Casting (where I learned many things about stuff I never notice in movies) and Match Game, which had my favorite quote of the article:
Blade Runner "Possibly the most prophetic film ever made. Any narrative where Harrison Ford can fall in love with a glorified toaster has a lot going for it."
Hee! And also:
The Big Lebowski "I'm a big fan of both bowling and Steve Buscemi. Every great movie needs a purple pantsuit-wearing pedophile and a hallucinogenic musical dream sequence featuring Saddam Hussein."
Of the movies they list that are up and coming, the two I'm most excited for are The Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Cat in the Hat, which gives you an accurate view of what I read. LOL. Mike Myers! I love him.
Also, Cold Mountain looks likely to be very good. As much as I try to be annoyed with Nicole Kidman, she's always doing stuff I really like. And Anthoney Minghella does good movie. I loved The Talented Mr. Ripley, despite my Matt Damon aversion. And Jude Law is in it. :)
I am not, however, at the edge of my seat with anticipation for Return of the King, sadly. Although I'll go and see it and hope for the best. I am excited for Eowyn, who proved to be the best thing about Two Towers, in my opinion. Also, Shelob!
