Tonight, while calmly watching tv and chatting online I get a frantic call from my mom, who had stepped out to see some friends earlier, calling to say that she'd been in an accident.

My dad and I rushed out to her. Some guy had rear ended her, made sure she was okay, then took off before she could get his license number. She was pretty distressed although physically she's not hurt that badly. She'll be quite sore tomorrow. Stiff with some whiplash, I imagine. You're just helpless in these situations and it sucks.

Anyway, we got her home and the car is not completely wrecked, although the bumper fell off and the trunk won't close now. We called the cops to report a hit and run and they sent us a whole gaggle of paramedics. :) I swear there was like ten of them, all huge, all quite charming and good looking. But she was okay so they left and then the cops came and we gave our report. Not much they can do, but that's the way of it, I guess.

My poor mother. She has terrible luck with cars and accidents. She really does.

Meanwhile, I missed all the excitement of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson's breast on Sunday. Not that this upset me much. :) I went to the movies instead and watched Girl with a Pearl Earring which was nice. Slow moving film but I rather liked that. The best thing about it (aside from Colin Firth who can do no wrong in my book) was how practically every shot looked just like a Vermeer painting. Very lovely. Hmm, I do love Vermeer.

Escapade is soon and I'm truly looking forward to it. I think I need a fannish recharge. After the go go go of Europe I've sort of dropped the thread of energy I had before.
