dead baby bird
Sep. 19th, 2007 10:33 amOver the weekend I noticed there was this dead baby bird lying on the floor of the garage where I park my car. I have to pass it every day. Over head I can see the nest where it had lived and the rose/brown pigeon that must be its mother. The pigeon hasn't moved. Or if it has, I haven't seen it. It's there, sitting in the nest, each time I pass. It seemed to me as if the mother was in shock because it sat so still, I've never known birds not to move. Or it seemed as if it were waiting waiting waiting for the baby to come home. Today I saw it fly from the nest, though, so maybe it's finally moved on.
It was all very distressing and each day I had to pass the dead baby bird I cringed. I kept thinking I should do something about it, but really, I'm terribly squeamish and every day I said to myself "surely, the manager will clean that up today". But he hasn't yet.
