Do Not Want.

In other news, I've been meaning to post something regarding the Writers' Strike, but quite frankly since I work at the WGA and my job is tied to the nitty gritty contractual aspects of all this, all I do is to talk to writers/agents/producers about all this stuff, I pretty much have had nothing but strike this, strike that, strike strike strike for the majority of my day for the past month. I talk about the strike at home, I talk about it at work (well, duh. that's an understatement...), it's a large part of each class discussion at school, it affects my friends, it's all over the internet and, as it should, it's the hot topic on my friend's list.
So far the Mansfield Park Group Read at pemberley.com remains blissfully strike free. LOL. *clings*
Anyway, it's heartwarming to see all the support WGA/support writers icons and posts and such. I'm sure it has to do with the circle's I run in but I haven't seen too many negative reactions.[1]
Yesterday I attended the Rally (this was the first time I was able to attend any of the picketing, since my dept. is handling most of the influx of calls) and, although I was nearly dead because I hadn't gotten any sleep the night before, I was glad to be there and was a right good rabble rouser. I had blow horn and a security vest and everything!!: When I say UNION, you say POWER. UNION! POWER!! UNION! POWER!!. People took pictures of me, but I haven't seen any crop up, which I think I'm thankful of. LOL. I took a few pics with my crappy camera phone, but was mostly trolling the crowd to make sure no writers were run over by a car OMG. Sekret message to
anoel: it was lovely to see you! I'm glad you had a great time. Sorry I was so dead by the end of it.
[1] I do have two real life friends, a couple, who argue the side of the companies, but I love them dearly. Since all of this started coming up, however, each time I meet up with them (and I see them weekly) we get into these long debates about it: they argue the company side and I argue the writers' side. It's all very friendly, and we end each session with multiple calls back and forth ensuring we're still all friends, but sometimes I get so riled up that I can't sleep. I mean, I literally can't sleep because I keep thinking up of arguments I should have made but during the heat of discussion I just get so riled up that a more ordered response usually goes out the window and it's only when I'm about to sleep that then I can't because I keep thinking of what I should have said. sigh. I'm seeing them tomorrow night and I'm debating whether or not to say "NO STRIKE TALK" mostly to ensure I will get sleep, but also because I cannot fathom their pov and no matter how I argue it or how friendly the discussion is I always walk away with my adrenaline over the roof. Even just writing this has my heart racing. Maybe I need a vacation... :)
