I heard about that, about the first episode and the horse that collapsed and I guess had to be put down? I'm still gonna watch, whenever I get to it (not having HBO) but I have a thicker skin about this sort of thing, I think, than a lot of people. And I'm curious about it considering my volunteer work for TROTT, which is all about taking ex-racehorses and rehoming them. With that work, we need to form positive relationships with race trainers and be open to the racing industry for the sake of the horses. So, I'm dead curious about Luck considering the buzz about the show, and we've had some of the actors come to our charity event, the show in general has been very supportive toward efforts re: horses. It's been on the horizon for a while now, and they filmed it at Santa Anita and I think, although I could be wrong, but the show uses a lot of racing industry personnel in filming, so I'm just figuring that some people must have known what they were going to go. And it's HBO; they don't really hold back much with their shows, do they. It's not like it was going to be a heartwarming tv show.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I read some reactions to that first episode. Some applauded the show for depicting the ugly side of the racing industry, but many were shocked and dismayed. I guess they had hoped it would be better PR for the industry.
