Tell your mom that if she continues to have gallbladder attacks, her gallbladder may well burst, requiring emergency surgery over which she'll have no control. Better to do it in a way where she can be more in charge of the process and tailor it to fit her concerns. I didn't recognize my gallbladder pain as gallbladder for quite some time (I confounded it with pain resulting from another medical issue), and my surgeon gave me a talking-to post-surgery about the risks I had narrowly avoided.
