What I learned from the film Gravity:

Do not go into space without transporters or a working deflector array.

After listening to the audiobook for Mary Roach's Packing for Mars (which I recommend), this film resonated on different levels than just the premise, performances, and execution. I know there was some critique about accuracy, but on so many levels it captured the impossibility of life in outer space.

Happy day after Thanksgiving! It was nice to be in the U.S. for the holiday. My mom is in town, seeing some doctors (we're back on track for the gallbladder surgery, although my mother's very special brain my still derail everything).

I have finished watching Xena: Warrior Princess, which is a great relief because for a while there it seemed that I was not going to get out of "ancient" greece. I know the way it ended was upsetting for fans (and [personal profile] killabeez, I took your advice and did not watch the ending as the ending), which I can see why. Although after years of hearing about Xena but never watching, the anticipation of the end made the whole thing anti-climatic -- also I largely guessed what would happen. But whatever, I can cross that off my list. I was mainly a Xena fan, but lukewarm on Gabrielle. I mean, I love Gabrielle but found most of her story lines tedious and annoying, especially the whole Hope thing (wth was that anyway). However, she got about a million times more fantastic and awesome by the end of the series, and it's weird that although i loved Xena, if one of them had to die, I'm very glad it wasn't Gabrielle, and I liked the whole notion of her going on, fighting the good fight, etc, even if it is without Xena.

I am now catching up on Haven, season 4, which I LOVE. I'm about six episodes in.

I have no idea what's going on in Haven, and that's all right. I love Audrey. I LOVE Duke. I'm a little less in love with Nathan and his boyangst, but nevertheless I am deeply amused by how he gets his boxers in a twist whenever Duke shows up. Did I mention I love Duke? I really love him and Audrey. I like all three as a threesome, their dynamic is fun, but as friends or lovers or whatever, I really like Audrey/Duke.

Um. That's about the level of intellectual conversation I am at with Haven. I'm going to be sad when I'm done with season 3 because season 4 isn't available yet on netflix. Actually, the entire series only recently became available for streaming, so hopefully I won't have to wait too long for season 4.

I haven't seen Thor yet. Am planning on it, though. Haven't seen the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary thing yet, either. I am mighty in my ability to remain spoiler free!
