I love you guys. Your comments in my last post made a difference. Thank you. {{{{friends}}}}
We're sort of holding steady over here. They're giving him the good drugs, even though he's not in pain (to help with muscle relaxing.) He feels a lot better and he's less pale. They're still focusing on his kidney's and getting them back as close to normal as possible before they do anything else, and right now they're seeing if he even needs dialysis, which I think is a good sign, that it looks like the kidney damage might be reversible, although it's probably too early to tell. So, steady change for the better. :D
Pirates: AWE -- Question: What's better than one Captain Jack Sparrow?
Answer: A whole shipful of Captain Jack Sparrows! Some of them scantily clad. :D :D
My roommate and I went to see AWE last night, after I left the hospital, which was nice. I had planned to see it on Friday, but of course that hadn't happened.
So much to love. It was a little overwhelming at first and about 2 hours after watching I sort of settled on what happened. I loved the Elizabeth/Will stuff, so much. I loved Will Turner! OMG, who'da thunk it. Elizabeth is of course my girl. I loved my lovely lovely Norrington. Barbossa really came into his own in this film; he's just a pirateful of fun on screen. And of course, I loved Jack, almost beyond reason. I definitely need to see it again, because I think I only got about 1/3rd of what was going on.
Stuff I especially loved:
-- The Pirate Bretheren: OMG, I want stories about these guys. I want to read about Captain Chevalle (so French! So creepy!) and Mistress Ching. I want them all to have their own movies. :D :D
-- I was *thrilled* that Elizabeth became Pirate King, omg so thrilled. Awesome. I wonder if she still is by the end of the film. I mean, I think she is! There wasn't another vote or anything.
-- I also loved that it was Barbossa, Elizabeth, and Jack that went to parley with Beckett, Davey Jones, and Will. I loved that Elizabeth figured out what Will and Jack were up to. *I* just barely figured it out. LOL. (indecently, the whole Davey Jones "I has a bucket" thing is cracking me up. bhwa!)
-- Norrington's death was sad, but I loved his moment with Elizabeth and the kiss, and I loved that Elizabeth wanted him to come with her. I love all the shit; eat it with a spoon. I'm sad he wasn't in it more, but when he was on he was fantastic. It would have been lovely to have a scene with Jack, of course...
-- I was wondering how they were going to do the whole Davey Jones' Locker business. It was so charmingly odd! I loved Jack on the Pearl all by his multiple onesis, and the whole creepy rock/crab business, and Johnny's acting throughout all of that. I especially loved the boat rocking stuff, *and* that it was Jack who figured it out. :D
-- I love that Murtogg and Mullroy became pirates at the end. ahahahaha. :D
-- He was only on for a short amount of time, and was rather understated, but omg how much did I love Captain Teague! Jack's dad! eeeee. I loved Jack's face when they called for the code and Capt. Teague. I loved loved loved their little scene afterwards and the whole "live with yourself forever."
-- I loved Tia Dalma in all of her scenes all the way up to when they released Calypso. I especially loved Pintel whispering in her ear and setting her free. That was so strangely sweet! Naomie Harris does such a great job with her.
-- OMG Groves is back! ahhaaha. :D It was great to see him. And, funnily, I had just seen the actor on 24, season 3 (he plays swishy evil-doer Michael Amador.)
-- Will and Elizabeth's "wedding" was perfect. No other words to describe it. *Perfect*, down to the kiss. Loved it. And I'm so happy they did get married.
-- And that brings me to my favorite part of the entire movie, which was Captain Jack Sparrow holding Davey Jones heart in his hand ready to thrust a knife into it, just when DJ stabs Will in the heart. Faced with choosing his heart's desire (only maybe it wasn't really what he wanted; just what he thought he wanted, but he probably really wanted it) or saving Will (and through Will, Elizabeth). He gave up what he wanted to that they could have, eventually, a chance to be together. It was magnificent. And then, he rescues Elizabeth. I loved that rescue, him holding her, comforting her and still holding onto the rope and flying through the air.
-- I wasn't really expecting the this ending. I thought it would be sailing into the sunset, all three together or maybe Will/Elizabeth together and Jack not far off. Part of me wishes they weren't all separated at the end; it was a sort of bittersweet. But, it was really a bold move on the writer's part, and I'm glad for that, and it makes for better character development.
-- Will Turner was seriously hot as the new Davey Jones. OMG. I have never really been attracted to Orlando Bloom, but holy moley, he was so gorgeous at the end, with the bandanna and the earring and the chest scar. good lord.
-- The tag ending was great. I was happy to see Will could have children. LOL. :D I guess, why wouldn't he? Eunuch jokes aside. heh. I didn't catch the plot bit that meant, with the flash of green, that his job was over at that moment. I'm glad for that, but I'm confused about the curse. I will have to watch it over again, I suppose. :D
