I've had barely two minutes to rub together since returning from VVC on monday, which of course means all the bigger and better con reports have already been done and posted, but c'est la vie. *g*

the social:

I'll say right off the bat, this report is going to be extremely spotty and very vague because I have the memory of a swiss cheese gnat, just fyi. LOL.

Thursday:

My VVC vacation started off with a delayed flight, which was annoying, but as I told [livejournal.com profile] killabeez, I was just so happy not to be at work and not answering the phones, I didn't really care I was stuck waiting on the tarmac for over an hour. I was all wheee! *g* I had a book to read and some snacks, so it was all good. At one point I did call Killa, to let her know that I had no idea when I was actually going to make it into Chicago, hoping it wasn't very late, but the plane did eventually get up into the air.

I arrived at the hotel to find out everyone had been worried about me, which I felt a little bad about, since it was really rather painless (if long), but it's nice to be fretted over. I quickly found all the usual suspects and there was much hugging and squeeing and the like. It was particularly good to see my New York Crew again and I gave Cesperanza, shalott, and Cassandra big big hugs. I commandeered Killa for dinner and she and I and [livejournal.com profile] absolut3destiny went down to Outback where we were eventually joined by many more. I think [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett joined us, and then a bit later [livejournal.com profile] sherrold, [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords and [livejournal.com profile] gattagrigia appeared and we made them sit with us. :) There were possibly more.

Um, I'm afraid the rest of the night is a big blur. I'm sure I hung out somewhere and there was much laughter and things.

Friday:

Friday morning I ate breakfast but I honestly can't remember with whom. I'm pretty sure there were many people there and much conversation.... And then there was much lollygagging in the environs of the con suite and the alcove while waiting for VJ training and then the first show to start.

[livejournal.com profile] geekturnedvamp and I had the dubious honor of VJing the Nearly New show, so that was all I really had to do on Friday. VJing is relatively a low stress job, but I knew both halves of Nearly New ran long, so I was jumpy about making sure all the vids got shown, which they did. I was in the Vidshow room the entire day, basically, and I'll go into the vidshows in a later post.

I ate lunch, I'm pretty sure... Or did I? I can't remember, but I wasn't starved so I must have eaten at some point. For dinner there was pizza with Killa, Sandy, Rache, and Nicole, and [livejournal.com profile] melina123, I think. And that was fun. Always a good crowd for some excellent conversations. If I recall correctly (which is a big if) I think the conversation centered around why there was such a lack of interracial pairings. Somewhat mystifying for all of us, with no clear reason why and some differing opinions.

Then Killa, Melina and I (my lovely roommates!), went and got ready for Club Vivid. I wore this new top I'd bought for the occasion, which, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the pov, I suppose. LOL) had the tendency to slip off my shoulders and flash some boob. oops.

There was much shaking of respective tail feathers. *g* Oh! and [livejournal.com profile] jacquez showed up, which was cool since she was one of the first persons I ever met in fandom and also one of the first I'd ever met in person. Neato.

I think I somehow, despite all inclination to do otherwise, ended up watching the Nearly New show in the [livejournal.com profile] flummery room. Again. *g* Then there was sleep.

Saturday:

Saturday I totally slept in, unintentionally, and missed both breakfast and the the Action vid show. I eventually wandered down to civilization and hung out in [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza and [livejournal.com profile] astolat's room where they fed me tea and it was good.

I did make it to the Instrumental vid show. After that was lunch, which I ate with Killa and [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r where we discussed, among other things, our initial reactions to TV shows that later caught our fancy, in the "little did we know" manner. For example, I vividly remember scoffing at the notion of a tv series based on Highlander: the movie, with Connor's cousin (I mean, how lame is *that* *g*).

There were more vids after lunch and I think I went to an actual panel, and then there was dinner. Vids. Eat. Vids. Squee. Hugs. Vids. Sleep. That's pretty much VVC in a nutshell. hee. I.. can't recall who was at dinner with me. Oh wait! I do remember. It was me, Killa, Cesperanza, and shalott, and it was a lovely dinner. One of the highlights for me, for the weekend. I think I talked everyone's ear off about Jane Austen fan fic, for which I apologize, but it was a lot of fun. :D

And then there was Premieres and then Lord King Bad Vid, for which there will be more later. After LKBV, there was sleep. zzzzz. Or perhaps that was the night I couldn't sleep? There were a couple of those, due mostly to a combination of jetlag and uncomfortable beds. Tres annoying, but it's not a con if I'm not sleep deprived, I say.

Sunday:

Sunday is always a bit melancholy, due to the con's inevitable end. I believe I did make it to breakfast that morning, but it's a bit of a blur. I was quickly falling into brain fog mode for the rest of the day and couldn't even read the schedule without having someone else parse it out for me.

The day went by quickly. I went to the rest of the vid shows and then helped break down the con with [livejournal.com profile] lapillus, Killa, elyn, and shalott. Then I waited in the lobby for the con com to finish their post con meeting. There I had a lovely chat with Cassandra and [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel, but for the life of me I don't remember what we talked about. And then Killa came down and we four went to dinner at Outback.

After dinner Killa and I ended up in the Flummery and Merry room (as I like to call it) and we watched The Dead Zone and there was much lamenting on how bad it's gotten. (I am eons behind on the show, having just now finished watching season 1, but the show *was* rather tripe-ish.) At one point, everyone nearly asphyxiated from laughing so hard over the simple action of answering the phone, which should tell you at what level we were all operating at. And I think there was a story told about being hit in the head by weighing scale, which quite logically led to a discussion of the random POVs of inanimate objects would render Johnny Smith some unusual visions of people going to the bathroom. Seriously, that was the entire gist of the conversation.

Before the evening got ridiculously late, I went in search of Cesperanza and shalott to make sure I got to see them before the morning, since it's never certain if you will be able to have a proper good-bye in the morning. I brought them back with me to the Flummery and Merry room and there was even more silly conversations and such. And then there were good-byes and hugs, and even more hugs. You can never have too many hugs.

Monday:

Killa had to leave very early and that was sad. *SOB* I miss her already. I eventually made it down to breakfast and there were loads of people milling around, all either on they're way out waiting for the airport shuttle or their rides or hovering waiting for the Pancake Caravan. There were more hugs and I got to say good-bye again to those I'd said good-bye to the previous night and also good bye to some I hadn't. And then my shuttle was called and I had to go. Very sad.

The flight home was a breeze, and like I said in my previous post, I had to turn around immediately upon coming home and hie off to school for my first day of Grad School! Whee! More on that later, as well.

Watch this space for my very deep and erudite thoughts on the various Vid shows, probably tomorrow, as I gotta actually do some work today.
