The character was just too Frank Miller for me.
Maybe that's what the problem is/was. I'm not really well versed on the comics, but I understand the reference to Frank Miller and his style.
I've always liked Bruce best as a man in his early/mid forties, still in very good physical shape, but just tipped over the top of the roller coaster and seeing the plunge down coming
Oh yes, I agree. I loved seeing the physical toll being Batman has on Bruce, and he's not as young as he was, etc.
