Happy New Year! Let's not do that again.

Today I am reminded how incredibly fortunate I am. I wish everyone reading this a wonderful start to a brand new year. 2020 has been a wild ride, but it's over now. Ready for new things.
I wanted to post something today and then
killabeez had a convenient meme for me to do! Excellent! Though I don't think I have answers for all of these lol.
Your main fandom this year? Is it a surprise that it remains MCU? I still think about Steve and Sam and Thor and Natasha and Bucky every day. I still think of Avengers Endgame every day. I still want to watch each of the movies all over again. I still think of the few stories I want to and plan to write. It's still a fun world for me to kick around. I am quite grateful for all of it, which (unlike for others I guess) never once hurt me. MCU is a pure pure love and joy from start to finish (at least so far! but i'm not worried about anything new coming down the disney+ pike).
Also I have been thinking a lot about Duncan and Methos. As you do.
Though I must admit Star Wars made a strong appearance. Not because of The Mandalorian, though that was fun, but because I watched all of Star Wars in chronological order and found that a) despite all its flaws and dumb retconning it actually hangs together okay and b) watching The Clone Wars and Rebels was a ton of fun, with strong story telling, characterization, and writing. In short, Obi-Wan is my Jedi boyfriend and Ahsoka is my BFF.
Your favorite film watched this year? Not sure I have one. Emma.? and maybe also The Gentlemen, which I actually enjoyed quite a bit. It's been a bad year for films for me. ETA: oh, and maybe Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, though I think that was technically last year. eTA2: thought I should mention The Rider, directed by Chloe Zhao, who's directing the upcoming The Eternals mcu film. I don't think The Rider was released in 2020, but I watched it in 2020. It's a masterpiece imo.
Your favorite book read this year? Also failing on reading anything new, but I listened to several audiobooks, still on my Heyer kick. I've been listening to old favorites and finally getting to those I haven't read/listened to before. My favorite old one -- The Nonesuch, favorite new one, Bath Tangle. I just started Sylvester, which is another new one I never read before. I did listen to few non-Heyer novels and the only one that sticks out is The Goblin Emperor which i liked okay, though not as much as I hoped.
Your favorite tv show of the year? I have not been truly excited by anything besides Star Wars Rebels, though I just finally started The Queen's Gambit and am loving it. Also my memory is for shit, honest. I can't remember what I watched last week let alone what I've watched in the last 12 months. To answer the favorite movies question I had to google films released in 2020. Swiss cheese brain. ETA: I remembered i love The Expanse! But I'm very very behind. And also it's such a wonderfully rich series that it needs more brain than I have right now and I've been wanting to rewatch from the beginning and pay more attention. But it hits right into my found family love. <3 sorry for that one dude getting fired from the cast though. well, you're a dick apparently. Bye bye!
Eta 2: Also remembered that I did love Schitt's Creek though I haven't watched the final season yet because I'm holding it back as a treat for me. And, for anyone looking for great limited series I recommend: Unorthodox, on Netflix. Also Unbelievable, also on Netflix, but the last one with a rape trigger warning. Neither of these are fannish content but they are some excellent television.
See? I just had to think about it, but memory kicked in.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year? Is discovering Star Wars new? lol. I doubt it. And i have failed in actually reading much of any SW fanfic. I try, and find all of it not to my taste because i do not like Anakin and he's impossible to avoid. Though to be fair, I haven't tried very hard or diligently.
Your biggest fandom disappointment? I'm very sad I can't go see the Black Widow in the theaters yet. In fact, I'm going to claim the lack of going to the movies as the biggest, saddest fannish disappointment of 2020.
Your tv boyfriend of the year? Obi-Wan! Also Steve Rogers and Thor! They are not TV but I don't care.
Your tv girlfriend of the year? Ahsoka Tano <3. And to be QUITE clear, I mean the animated Ahsoka Tano, and not the live action version from the Mandalorian, who is a pale shadow.
Your biggest squee moment of the year? I guess it was probably the last 10 minutes of final season 2 episode of The Mandalorian. FUN.
The most missed of your old fandoms? I don't miss anything, but I am nostalgic for the joy I had in watching Avengers Endgame, and the MCU in general. I still feel comfort there, but nothing like the first time <3.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? I'm actually, believe it or not, quite curious about Supernatural. It only took 15 years! And also closed canon! And Putin resigning I guess. haha. I shall report back when I finish watching it.
