the state of my brain what is brain?
Jan. 21st, 2007 03:23 pmI thought I'd do an update, of sorts, you know, on the state of all things tifah, but then I don't really feel like I have anything substantial to update with, and then I realized it's just that I'm avoiding writing the BIGSCARYTHING I have to write for school and so here I am. Hi!
.) I have this love/hate thing with my job. I love the people, I love my boss, the work isn't that bad even at its most annoying, but man, I am not feeling the love. And I don't think the job is feeling the love for me, either. But, well, I need this gig for a bit longer at least, until I'm outa grad school, so here's hoping we don't kill each other? 'k?
.) Speaking of my boss, how awesome is she? She loves Friday Night Lights, and was talking to me about how she and her friend call each other and cry when they're watching it. BWAH! Also? She loves Landry and was all, omigod, I could be related to him, and proceeds to tell me that her nephew has a band called ThisPestilence, which was funny and we laughed.
.) So, I had vague hopes that this semester wouldn't be as go go go as last semester, and it will indeed proceed at a slower pace, but will require more of an output, in terms of sheer number of pages and words I have to write, and well, eeeeee. I struggle, but it's a kick in the pants I think I needed.
.) One of my instructors this semester has been in the publishing business forever and a day. He's an older gentlemen with a dry sense of humor which I find hysterical. He also brings his dog Sally to each class. Sally usually just lies down quietly, but sometimes she goes into the center of our tables (we sit in a rough circle/square on long tables) and rolls around. Other times she chases her tail. I'm deeply amused and also get this sorta sweet, sad picture of this old man who can't go anywhere without his dog. He told us he'd be lost without her. sniff.
.) My roommate and I have a bunny. His name is Snickers, because he's brown and sand colored, sorta mottled, with floppy ears. He's the cutest bunny in the world. Except when he's being naughty and tries to dig the carpet and eat things he shouldn't. He's really my roommate's bunny, but I feel very attached to him. Sometimes I feel a bit weird about having this little thing, who should have grass and trees and fresh air, having only my apartment for his home, but he seems happy, most of the time. He's young still, and not neutered yet, and is rascally, likes to speed around the apartment and leap sideways. Cutest thing ever, I'm telling you.
.) Fannishly, I'm adjusting to being as multifannish as I am right now, which is more then I've ever been before, and it makes me a bit of a spaz and also means I don't get anything done in any of the fandoms, especially not with school claiming all of my creative energy. I feel like I have fannish ADD -- I'm having trouble focusing on any one show beyond the time that it's sitting in front of me, and I feel like I'm watching a lot of TV right now, more then I have in about ten years.
.) Having no time for fannish writing, I still would like to write at least one story from the big list of stories I may write this year. hmmmmm. eeeny meeeny miny moe! :D
.) There is no eight. I just need a round number.
