Friday Night Lights and Lost

SmashMomma continues to be made out of awesome.
I was worried the racial tension in this episode would escalate to violence (aside from what Tami said she broke up in the hallway - I'm more worried about large scale rioting) and I'm really glad that hasn't happened, and only hope that will continue not to happen. When I saw how the tension was building with Smash, I got really worried and then was hugely releived when they walked out on practice. It was a powerful scene, well played, and I LOVED the expression on Coach Taylor's face, hands on his head, totally just going "ah shit" *g*. I've never liked Mac, so I won't be sorry if they're forced to fire his ass. And damn, I mean, I know it's a TV show, but poor Coach Taylor cannot cut a break -- just one damn thing after another. *pets*
Words cannot express how much I loved the Powderpuff Girls game. All of it, but especially Landry OMG, with his whistle! And his 'in your face, Riggins!" AHAHAHA. I adore him. And how sad and pathetic is it that with only that one little interaction between Tim and Landry, I squealed like a 12-year-old? *facepalm* Also, let's not forget Tim Riggins, with his sunglasses, and his "I'm beginning to see a W!!!" bhahahaha. LOVE.
Oh! And Coach Taylor and Julie! So adorable. I also rather like Tyra and Julie being friends, despite the very real possibility that Tyra is a bad influence. heee. And Julie looking at her mother, after Tami saying she has to participate in the Powderpuff Girls, "you wouldn't do that to me?" "Oh, yes I would." HEEEE.
I also continue to totally love the Herc and Jason show. I don't know how I feel about Jason not continuing H.S. and possibly giving up on college and all that. 18 is so young. He has, in theory, time to decide what he wants to do regarding school. If quad rugby is what he wants to do now, why not? I dunno. I'm not sure, if I were in a position to parent Jason, that I would force him to do anything that he didn't want to do, with maybe a promise from him to look at all of his options. But he shouldn't get married, that much is certain.
sigh. I love this show.

I'm not so heavily invested in the Juliet character, but I thought her story was interesting, and this bizarre ability she has with fertility, and wonder why Dharma would need a fertility expert?? What is up with these people and children? IT'S CREEPY!
I *loved* the whole "have him hit by a bus" and then "omg, he was hit by a bus!" thing. I mean, I knew instantly that that was going to happen as soon as the words left her mouth, but that's okay. It fits with the general weirdness of this show and the Dharma people, the numbers, and everything. Desmond, too, in that scene with Jack on the stairs. The question I have is: is it the nature of the world within the Lost universe that creates these coincidences? Or is it something specific within that world? Like Dharma or Ben or whatever, pulling strings. I mean, the entire show is riddled with them, these wacky coincidences.
I'm glad Kate and Sawyer are now off the island. I loved Jack during the scene where he makes Kate tell him the story about fear, and how that pulled him through the operation on Ben. Ben is even creepier sedated. Ew! And Alex -- er? So, they say Ben is her father? Is Rousseau her mother? I... don't care for that image.
I'm not sure what to make of the Clockwork Orange scene. LOL. I wonder what exactly is the purpose of the brainwashing? The desired outcome? I hope we find out.
Next week, Desmond! YAYAY.

Date: 2007-02-08 11:15 pm (UTC)See, I had been waiting for some little additional Tim&Landry interaction. Because you know that Landry wouldn't be in a place to do that if he and Tim weren't ahem still seeing each other.
Also, let's not forget Tim Riggins, with his sunglasses, and his "I'm beginning to see a W!!!" bhahahaha. LOVE.
I saw those sunglasses and was like ... dood, is LANDRY dressing you?

And have you seen the deleted scene at nbc.com? It's an awesome Billy, Tim, and Dad one.
(By God, the first season DVD set better have all those deleted scenes as extras!).
