It's like, I have my own little triumvirate, or something.
Rome: I'm really loving Simon Woods as Octavian, creepy little fuck that he is. My mother was all "omg, Octavian is not nice." To which I answered, "HELLO! Where have you been??" She had thought he was a nice boy. I asked for her definition of "nice". She said smart. I said, oh! well, you're good then. LOL. *headdesk* Vorenus and Pullo break my heart. I draw flowers and hearts around them and sprinkle them with fairy dust. I had a bad feeling about Eirane and Gaia -- although Gaia looked pretty awesome in the end there. She is so dead, however, 'cause you know that apothocary lady is gonna spill the beans and tell Pullo what had happened. Pullo biting Memmio's to death is the *second* time this season I've had a character do that. o.0 I love Antony, but I'm pretty sure you all knew that already. I love him calling to Atia - he can be so crass and governed by baser instincts, but I think he really does love Atia. Only two more episodes! meep.
BSG: Okay, somehow, I've become a Baltar fan. I dunno how it happened, but before I knew it, he's become one of the few individuals on the show that I find truly interesting. He's such a strange, bizarre, little man, both weak and brilliant. I'm fascinated. :D I was very moved by Daddy Adama's honest devastation after Starbuck died. I liked that episode -- it was pretty obvious there were setting Starbuck up for *something*, and I bet you a million, bazillion bars of latinum it has to do with her time on Caprica when she was captured and Rick Worthy was her doctor. I'm betting! Anyhoo, I *also* find myself totally intrigued by Leoban/Starbuck. Not in a relationship kind of way, but they have a twisted kind of chemistry, and the paint scene against the wall was kinda hot. o.0 As for the trial and Romo and all that, I'm sort of over it. I still don't understand the purpose of it all (on a meta level, not a plot level) and, although I like Mark Sheppard as the lawyer, I didn't understand half of what was going on, nor did I care much for the scenes between Lee and his father. I did love watching Twitchy!Baltar, though. *g* Oh! And Anders. I *loved* Anders. I also *loved* the scenes between Anders and Apollo. :D Very little Gaeta, which makes me cry.
24: YAYZ.
What I liked:
- I love that Jack does not give up. He just keeps going, limping along until his mission is fulfilled, and if that means he dies or gets captured, tortured or whatever, that's secondary to resolving the crisis. I've seen this in other characters (Duncan!) but not quite at the same level, and also Jack does not have a Methos to tell him his pants are on fire. :(
I have started watching season 1 of 24 (finally) and I've seen the first four hours, and wow, what difference between then and now. He smiles, he laughs, he's affectionate. (the whole show is hugely different between then and now. CTU was much more casual back then. fascinating!) But one thing that has not changed is Jack's determination. He's harder, tougher, definitely more damaged now, but he has the same drive. I love him.
- Chloe made me laugh out loud. "I'm feeling ambivalent." ahahahahha.
- MILO! YAYZ I missed you. Don't ever go away again. *clings* How much did I love Milo coming to Morris' defense against Rickey Schroeder (who's freaking me out with simultaneous young/old face. yipe) ?? I loved it THIS much. I loved Morris, too. I LOVE THEM ALL. :D
- I have always been fond of Bill, but I feel the poor guy doesn't actually ever get to do anything but walk from one corner of CTU to another, sometimes answering the phone and relaying orders. But he's holding his own, and I loved the scenes with him and Logan.
- Martha and Aaron broke my heart. Aaron breaks my heart. Omg, his eyes, his face, each time he looks at Martha. And when she stabbed Logan (jaw meet floor), how Aaron reacted and then *her* face. Good lord. Oustanding, heartbreaking, just good *Lord*.
- Logan is one selfish son of a bitch. I love the performance by Greg Itzin and all, and he's a great character, but what a self serving bastard. There was absolutely no need for him to have gone to Martha. I'm pretty sure that if Aaron had asked her to talk to the Suvurovs, she would have done it. The only reason Logan went there was for his own need to see Martha, fuck her up a little bit more -- that fatal bit more, it seems - twist the knife in. I'm pretty sure he was thinking mainly of himself and his desire. Great character work on the part of the actors and the writers, but man, that was brutal!
- I'm withholding judgment on Doyle. I can't say I really liked him all that much at the start of the episode, but when he settled down a bit by the end, it was fine. Casting someone like RS means he's gotta have a bigger part to play. I do want to know more about his and Milo's history.
Things that make me ill:
- The Washington DC storyline is still making me ill, man. V.P. Powers Boothe is EVIL. Poor Tom Lennox. Poor Ambassador. Poor America. BUT, he's wily that Tom. I'm half hoping he's got an ace up his crumpled little sleeve.
Things I did not like:
- There wasn't really anything, other then being annoyed at Doyle - who feels a bit like he's cribbing on Jack Bauer's territory. hrmph.
- I want President Wayne back.
