It really depends on how you use it. The nano Jackie got me for my birthday is just the right size for what I want - easier to move around with than a fullsize one, and will hold a whole day+ or and a whole audio book. I don't want vids in squinty and it's not what I listen to at home generally. It's a convenient mode for a day or weekend's worth of entertainment with my computer as my main repository (I can do some kinds of sorts there that just aren't possible in an ipod). However if you really want to bring everything, especially video, definitely go for the 160. It's the middle range that I see the least usefulness for in a fannish life.

I bought my 80 gig ipod...six months ago? About that, anyway, and I thought, ha ha, that's a lot of songs! I'll never fill that up!

...and then I did. So. Um. 160 gig ftw?

Always get the most you can in memory - either hard drive or RAM. Because it will *always* max out sooner than you think. :D

I had Nano regret a day after buying it - 4g (man, I didn't even do the 8G! I'm a loser!) means cutting to nothing, imo. I realize I'm still carrying around more music than I can listen to in, er, probably my lifetime, but but but the MINUTE it was possible to have more than a few CD's worth of music around, I had a feeling of I WANT IT ALL HERE WITH ME NOW!

So when my 20G died, and those cute little nanos came out...

... And when I forgot that I'm not actually the type of person that wants to swap songs in and out of my iPod every damn day...

It's still a cute nano and I may use it for working out or something, but as a "got my music and iPorn and iBooks all here with me yay" item, I needed to go back to a big fat one.

Nano spelled backwards is Onan.

And, um, iPod spelled backwards is Dopi.

and, ummm, touch spelled backwards is hcuot and iphone spelled backwards is enohpi.

I don't know where I was going with this.

I wanted to get an iPod Touch to replace my old palmtop, but it turned out the iPod Touch doesn't seem to have the notebook option that the iphone has, so it doesn't make much of a replacement for a palmtop, so I guess when I have the money I'll get an iphone and just not use it as a phone (cause the cheapest plan they have is $100 a month, and I'm currently spending about $45 a month on Verizon Wireless).
