where oh where has my wireless net gone?
Jan. 29th, 2004 09:19 amMy wireless router is on its way, speeding to me quickly over the us mail. I am the picture of patience.... not. *g* I had made the mistake of waiting to order it first thing because I got waylaid by my dad wanting to take me to Fry's (which is HUGE. Holy cow.) but I couldn't handle how much more expensive it was there, and marched my dad right back home to order it online. Total before rebate came to less than what it would be store bought before taxes. yowsa.
Meanwhile, it's just been me and my dad here, since my mom's gone off to some retreat do-hickie thingie for the week. And well, I may be driven crazy. Yes. Add my mother into the mix and my sanity may not last long enough for me to get my own apartment. :) Love them, but, huh-boy. We shall see how long the promise of rent free living holds out over having my life back to normal. hm.
I've caught up on Alias --
I can't handle it anymore. I love Vaughn! He's my silent and moody tv boyfriend. :) I'm not in the least surprised that Lauren has turned out to be evil. I only wish it hadn't been so predictable. My one complaint. Jack continues to be my favorite Dad ever, and jeez louise, he married into one heck of a family didn't he? Gee, Lena Olin or Isabella Rossalini... which one to choose. heh. *g*
Hey
yahtzee63? You're prediction was nearly dead on, there, wasn't it. Very x-files of them. All in all, fun episodes. Can't wait for more.
I also started watching season 1 of Highlander over again starting with The Gathering and ended up just snickering at the tragedy that is Duncan's hair. I can forgive the basic badness of the episode since the show was new and untried and all that (and because, aside from terrible pacing and some horrific acting by Richard Moll, they all do remarkably well). But those hair-extensions are truly painful. I should learn to just skip over that ep, but I love Connor and Duncan together, and we get so little of that.

Date: 2004-01-29 06:07 pm (UTC)I think they should establish that the third Derevko sister, Elena, is the vicious, unstable one -- like Mycroft Holmes. Irina and Katya both go a bit pale and speak of her in hushed voices, that kind of thing.
I freakin' love Katya. I feel strongly that, at some point, a Katya-Jack-Irina threesome fic needs to exist.
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 07:12 pm (UTC)And I've got to wonder who they're going to cast for Elena, and they have to have her now. They've brought her up, they must follow through. It's some sort of law.
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 07:22 pm (UTC)My personal prediction: They haven't cast Elena and won't until (a) JJ Abrams needs a Derevko for a specific episode and (b) neither Lena Olin nor Isabella Rossellini is available. He built himself in a little insurance there, and wisely so; I'm surprised he didn't make Irina a septuplet or something.

Welcome back to CA, by the way!

I know, I always come to the same conclusion. :-) Innocent Man, on the other hand, I skip freely and without guilt. Actually, I'm trying to remember... I think that may be the only episode I skip almost every time. Even Bless the Child and Immortal Cimoli get more play in my house. *g*
*gloms* Why are you way over in California?
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 08:08 pm (UTC)The way I've started thinking of "Alias" is as a group of John Le Carre characters dropped into a James Bond storyline, to make of it what they will.
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 08:13 pm (UTC)The John Le Carre/James Bond connection makes perfect sense!
meep. I knew Lena Olin was in my future, but Isabella is, too? And there's like, UST? Hurry up, Netflix, hurry up!
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 08:42 pm (UTC)No. It's so, so right. After all, ultimately, being sexy is how you work around to becoming a dad in the first place. Also, look at his arms. His shoulders. Feel the love.

Irina (Lena Olin) has off-the-charts chemistry with Jack, with a mixture of murderous rage and UST that must be seen to be believed. Isabella has just joined the show (she'll appear twice more this year), and it's too early to say just what will be going on with her and Jack, but the UST is definitely putting in at least a guest appearance.
Where are you in the episode list?
::takes off pimp hat, albeit only very temporarily.
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 08:55 pm (UTC)You're right. Wow, that's a relief.
I actually saw one episode with Irina and Jack, which is what made me start watching it in the first place, because Lena Olin? Sexiest Woman that Ever Lived, at least that I know about. Isabella's only slightly down the list from there.
We just watched disk 4, so our next ep is #17 of season 1.

Date: 2004-01-29 09:02 pm (UTC)You are headed into the thick woods of Rambaldi, but you will emerge into a brilliant, shiny universe at the season's end.
I await your "Alias" vids with great interest. I am trying to start one (my first) myself, but it will suck.
Re:
Date: 2004-01-29 09:11 pm (UTC)Actually, I'm enjoying having a show that I can just watch for now. Of course, that will all change the second I hear The Perfect Song, most likely, but. I'm very excited that you're vidding it! I haven't seen any Alias vids except for that Lady Marmalade one. Which further tempted me to watch the show, so that's to the good, but I'm still excited at the thought of a vid just about Alias. It's a very pretty show, with many pretty people.

I have no idea. I think I've been kidnapped.
