In other news, I'm busy. Or rather, I have a lot of work, both at work and at home, none of it of a very fun nature, but it has to be done. I'm also reading a lot. I recently picked up a couple Dover editions of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice which I'm ashamed to admit I've never read. They're delightful, and I've even been searching for fan fiction. Most of the fan fiction I've found is P&P, which is fine and good and yay, but I want more Sense and Sensibility stories! (and this is where I look pitiful and ask for recs? Slash would be heavenly, but I'm good with shmoopy het romance... *mew*)
I'm writing (Highlander, of course *g*), but very slowly. Painfully slow. I hate beginnings. But yay story.
Sadly, I have nothing else of much interest to report. The grad school application inches forward. I'm procrastinating on writing the statement. Bad me!

Date: 2005-04-21 01:44 am (UTC)Strangely enough, the JA fandom is mostly (99%) P&P, with some occassional Emma or S&S or MP story thrown in. VERY occasional. Though there is a beautiful story--sadly unfinished--out there, called a A Brief Encounter, by a girl named Alison, telling the love story between Elinor and Willoughby. Ahem, that's almost like slash. :)
The fandom is also overwhelmingly het as it is based in large part on the romance between Lizzy and Darcy from P&P. I've read a multitude of Lizzy and Darcy stories, with some occasional Colonel and Anne stories, but not a single Darcy and Bingley or Darcy and Wickham story. There is a story where Wickham lusts silently after Darcy (gives a whole new motivation to his devilishness), and there is a spoof on slash where Darcy sleeps with the Colonel. THAT'S IT. :)))) I don't know why it's like that.
The two best sites are http://www.hyacinthgardens.com and http://www.firthness.com. The excellent Elinor/Willoughby story is only now continued on Firthness. Both need to be joined, as the stuff on them is R and up (though not all). There are also PG-13 sites: http://www.pemberley.com and http://www.austen.com/derby.
Enjoy!
