Grumpy for no reason, really. Could be the weather which has suddenly turned gloomy.

--My mom is now addicted to Alias. :) Job well done, I say. *pats self on back*. Next up to corrupt, my cousin. *g* Mom and I are currently devouring Season 2 eps as fast as possible, which isn't very fast since I'm never home, but, woo! Season 2 is a thing of beauty, it really is. I'd forgotten how amazing the Server 47 episode was. I hadn't seen it since it aired. It's going to be fun to see how she takes the season 2 finale. eheheh.

--My dad bought me the Pirates of the Caribbean dvd for by birthday a few weeks ago. I love this movie. I was watching it non stop for a few days there. And my Johnny Depp affection has soared into enduring love. I mean, I liked the movie before. A lot. Enough to see it twice in the theatres and to read a couple of fics. But now, I think it deserves to be bold in my list of Fandoms throughout Life. However, my love just might be defeated by the sprawlingness and general disorganized mess that is the PotC fandom. I appear to lack the patience to troll through LJ looking for fic, many of which, should I follow a link, ends up being friends locked. And honestly, that pisses me off. *grump*

--I have this (rather sad) habit of watching a few minutes of Highlander everyday just before going to bed. But because I'm always so sleepy, I never make it through more than 5 or 10 minutes before I have to turn it off and go to sleep. For this reason, if I happen to see an episode when I'm actually awake, there's always whole sections of dialogue and action that are bafflingly unfamiliar.

-I also have to watch these eps in chronological order, which just adds a whole level of peculiar analness to my rather sad habit. And then I'm all annoyed if for some reason I have to go out of order. Weirdo!

--I'm at the part with my current story where I'm anxious to finish and I keep rereading parts and tweaking bits and pieces (and I still think it's amazingly boring) but I'm also just kinda staring at it. Because it's there. I'm only half-way finished. And it's not very long at all. sigh.

--Despite this, I love Duncan and Methos. Very much. They're all hurty and things. *pets*

--I pine for Killa. *pines*

Hi! Friended you back, I hope that's ok. . .

Anyway, I've participated in the PotC fandom since the early days, and I can give you lots of good recs, if you're looking for stories - I know how hard it is to find stuff when you're first getting interested in a fandom, and I'm always glad to pimp my favorite fandom help a sister out. Is there a particular character/pairing/style of story you're looking for?

hey there!

Friend away, please. :)

As for recs, that would be lovely. I'll read anything that is Jack-centric, really. For pairings I prefer Sparrow/Norrington, but I find myself wanting good Jack/Elizabeth. J/W/E is fine, too. J/W alone is also okay, but interests me less. I'll also read Will/Elizabeth (preferably with Jack somewhere in the story *g*).

I've read Wren's stories and Firesignwriter's stuff, and a couple of odds and ends elsewhere.

Thanks again. I haven't read any of your stories yet, but I friended you for that very reason. *g*

Hmmm. Not sure about the rest, but [livejournal.com profile] mimesere is big into the Sparrow/Norrington pairing and from her userinfo I noticed [livejournal.com profile] sparrington.

Here's a link to my recent post of Jack-centric recs, with links to my previous character posts, in which I talk about the way I see each character and then rec some stories that match my vision. I stand behind every story on those lists as some of the best the fandom has to offer.

As far as Sparrington, there's lots of great stuff out there. If you like Wren and Firesignwriter's stuff, I bet you'd like [livejournal.com profile] the_stowaway's Sparrington arc: "Mischief", "The Nature of Freedom", "Nocturne" and "Trust and Honour".

I also like [livejournal.com profile] isagel's "Carnival", [livejournal.com profile] hija_paloma and [livejournal.com profile] webcrowmancer's "Best Laid Plans" and "A Plan Well Laid", and [livejournal.com profile] hippediva's "Bluebird" and "This Ragged Wound" (these are darker than some of the others - "This Ragged Wound," in particular, is quite dark, with a noncon sex scene).

And I always feel weird about pimping my own stuff, but since it matches what you're looking for, I'll pass along some links (feel free to disregard them). I've written some Sparrington and quite a bit of J/W/E. All my fanfic is here. As a sampler, I'll offer up: "Shelter", a Sparrington story with a W/E secondary relationship; "Triangulation", a long, multi-story J/W/E series; and "First Blood", a W/E story with a brief appearance from Jack. Those will give you some idea of the sort of thing I write. (And like I said, please feel free to disregard these entirely.)

I cannot help you much on the recs. I have an author or two whose style I like, but they seem to prefer modern-era stuff and I am a pirate-era girl. So, if someone pimps you something? Think of your friends, and if not them, think of me. *g*

Dude, totally. If I find good stuff, I'll let you know. I lean towards S/N, though, but I'll keep a good eye out for all slash.

And I have of course been remiss in saying how much I loved your PotC stories. Especially the Elizabeth one.

You know, I kinda figured you for a Sparrington girl. Hmm. Wonder why. *g* And seriously, if you find any good H/C, write me, call me, send me an IM. That's one kink I'm not really finding, and I'd look at almost any pairing for that.

And hey! You read my POTC stuff? Go me! I am feeling the love. ::hugs::

I don't really know why, so if you know go ahead and tell me. *g* It's the uptight british thing, really. And Will is sadly not much my type, but I do find him adorable.

Okay! Will do. Hmm, h/c... I haven't really found any either, but I haven't read gobs and gobs of fic.

In my first infatuation with PotC, I put up a recs and resources page here: http://elke.slashcity.org/potc.html
Unfortunately I haven't updated it since last fall, but what I rec'ed there back then, I stand by now. :-)

Also, I think there's now a handy recs community... [livejournal.com profile] potc_recs

And I believe that [livejournal.com profile] crack_van has recs in PotC (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=crack_van&keyword=Pirates+of+the+Caribbean+Fanfic+Recs&filter=all), as well.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the page *g*

I'm subbed to those two communties already. I just find LJ difficult, because when they come through my friends page, I usually can't read right then, and then they go by and I'm left to rely on my memory to go back and find them. And that rarely happens. And LJs are hard to search. blah.

When things come through my friends page which I want to read later, I stick them into my LJ memories categories. Sometimes I list them in the fandom-specific categories, sometimes I just put them in "catch up reading" and sometimes I put them in both (yes, one post can be memoried in more than one set of keywords). You can add your own quick references to the titles people give their posts when you memory them, so if you want to note the pairing or the rating, that's an easy way to do it.

Of course, that's kind of how I started having such a gargantuan memories section (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=elke_tanzer)...

This is the rec page I started with. And definitely [livejournal.com profile] mimesere, as well as [livejournal.com profile] monkeycrackmary, [livejournal.com profile] guede_mazaka, and [livejournal.com profile] webcrowmancer (although she's left for other things now).

Hm. But yeah, htere's really isn't much centralized. I mostly just catch stuff from recs and friendsfriends. [livejournal.com profile] inkbug just started posting what is supposed to be the *fab* Sparrington epic, but I haven't started it yet because I can't do WIPs.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! And hi there. I'll check those out.

See, complain a little and people come running to your rescue. *g* I'm not good with WIPs either. Or at least I wait to see the likely hood of completion before starting.

Hi! I was reading someone else's friendslist and your post caught my eye. I love to pimp the wonder that is PotC. *grin* I keep thinking of more places to suggest, so if you want more, let me know. :)

I'd start reading it if the ending was even at the beta, but it's not and that makes me leery. Been burned too many times, as I"m sure you've experienced.
