various things
Sep. 30th, 2003 10:24 am--I'm just trucking along here. Perpetually exhausted, but just ducky. School is good. I'm about to have my first exam this week which should be a breeze, she says, confidently. It's an intro class -- multiple choice and true/false, no essay, no short answer. I can do these in my sleep. I LOVE intro classes! Perversely, I find these types of exams almost fun. Hmmm, maybe I *am* meant to be a life long student...
--Am watching the new television season and everyone's reaction to the season premieres with a sort of lazy eye. I don't have a TiVo and I'm absent minded, which means if I remember (and that's a big if) I'll be watching West Wing, Enterprise, Alias, Smallville, and blush Friends. Other shows I peek into are the L&Os and Charmed (it's the clothing. And dude, Phoebe totally stole my haircut!). Everything else (ie all the new shows) sorta missed my radar, so I'll have to hear about them second hand. I miss watching tv. sniff. I did want to catch Gilmore Girls this season, but I fear it's a lost cause. I would also peek in on Angel (if only so that I can follow fannish conversations), but someone above decided to put all the tv shows on Wednesday. What up with that? I only have so much attention span, here.
--Alias? Is just making me so happy. I love this show. Since the hey day of X-Files I haven't seen a show that has me gripped from start to finish for every episode. I think it's brilliant. I'm *still* reeling from last season's finale. It's probably the one show airing that I will never forget to watch, that trumps everything else. And also, it's all about Sydney for me. I adore everyone else (all of them! I love them all. They're all fucking fantastic) but I'm very interested in her development and her progress and her story. It's hard for me to watch a show with one central character (or two central characters, as the case may be) like that and not totally latch on to that character. If I didn't like her, I wouldn't be watching, no matter how much I was fond of the other characters. Unlike X-Files, however, I am not nearly as obsessed. I learned my lesson. Won't ever do that again.
--I think it's hysterical that there's a Reality TV show out there called EX-treme Dating. Bwahahahahaa! I don't know a thing about it, and I'm going to guess that it's couples going on dates where they have to bungee jump off a bridge or sky dive or something, but the image of these horrific, everything goes bad, obstacle course (in the relationship sense) dates is totally making me laugh. Dating: It's not just for the meek and mild mannered anymore. Was it ever? LOL.
--Come the end of the semester, I'm going to Europe for about four weeks. I've never done this -- the go to Europe and travel around thing that so many people do when in college. I'm excited! If anyone has any suggestions, please send them along! Especially of the money saving type, since I'm going to be flat broke. :)
--Writing's also coming along steadily. Almost done with Crash of Light (HL, D/M), and boy howdy will I be a happy camper then! This things been with me nearly two years now. It's going to be about 25,000 words which is the longest thing I've ever written. woo.
--RIP Donald O'Connor
I vividly remember watching Singin' in the Rain as a child and just being in complete awe of his "Make em' Laugh" number. My first introduction to physical comedy. That's a great movie. Makes me really want to go out and buy it, for him, but also for the rest of the cast. I also remember the "Beautiful Girls" number and desperately wanting all those costumes. Although the "Gotta Dance!" number kinda confused me-- just a little too surreal for my 8 year old brain. heh.
