Okay, so, this is what I'm settling on for noms for Yuletide. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this this year. Bah.

Eyes
Northanger Abbey
Emma
Roman Holiday
Oz Books - L. Frank Baum

And then I have a roving 6th spot: I have a complete, deep, irrational fear that Ocean's 11 won't be nominated by other people even though it's a Yuletide fav every year and so I might just give it to O11. Hustle I know is being covered by others, as I'm fairly sure is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I decided to axe North and South because it's really too obscure; there's no point. This allows for Emma, which deserves some love. I'm in a flush of Oz love, for some reason, and I asked for Roman Holiday last year and I would still love to see a Joe/Anya or even a Joe/Irving. Flight of the Conchords was my gift last year and Gosford Park was my gift the year before that, as was Wiseguy. I may still want to request WG; the requests are gonna be a whole other ball of wax.

-- EEEE.*flaps hands*

-- My favorite theory that I had about 1973 was that there would be some kind of reveal that the other people in CID would all be other coma patients in Sam's hospital in some kind of Jungian collective unconscious, and when he woke they'd all be there and he'd have to get them out or something. Well, *that* didn't happen. hahahaha.

-- Loved the cancer = gene hunt thing, or more specifically that Sam would have to metaphorically kill his illusions in order to move on.

-- I gotta say I never once believed that the life in 1973 was real and Sam's life in 2006 as fake. Once he woke up I did start to wonder if he was still in the coma, because there was nothing in 2006 to anchor him. His mother, a bit, but just barely, no friends, no nothing, no joy, which is I guess why he went back. I did like the whole "if you feel; alive, if you don't feel; dead" when the reverse happens to be the actual truth. In the end, I'm inclined not to overthink it. Whatever. 1973 made Sam more alive even though he's dead. Sure, why not!

-- Up until the moment when Sam finally got into Gene's car in the very last scene and they all drove off together (into the sunset, baby), I expected him to get hit by a car again and wake up in 2006.

-- I'm very glad he got to stay in 1973 in the end, but I have such huge issues with suicide that I was actually a bit weirded out by it. At least the visual reinforcement of it being a real suicide, though excellently shot, and not just Sam lying down and sleeping and not waking or something like that, like willing himself back into a coma.

-- But the kiss rather seriously made up for it. SAM/ANNIE FOR THE WIN!! Also, you guys, they're all in Gene's car together. <3 <3 <3 They're driving off into the sunset together, ALL OF THEM. TOGETHER. And Sam saved them, in the end, and Gene trusted him, and it was all awesome, fun, ridiculous crack and I'm very glad I finally watched it. I know things change in Ashes to Ashes, although I'm still unspoiled, but I'm okay with that (and I'm totally gonna watch that like right away, yes).

In other news, I hear something about a Doctor? Anyone else hear this? I don't know, might not be important.

After my first OMGPANIC!!! (and seriously, DW, I hate you for doing this to me) I read the BBC news thing (which I'm too lazy to link to; it's all over the place though) and thought: a) not really all that big a surprise, at least I was rather expecting it, b) good for him, seriously, get the hell out while the getting's good, c) re: leaving at the same time as RTD and Julie Gardner, I'd have done the same thing. It's going to be such a different animal with Moffat that I'd have felt like the wierd 25-year-old who keeps hanging around the high school crowd to remain 'cool'.

Also, his statement, what he wrote, was lovely.

eta: so, I've been reading reactions here and there and there's a fair bit of everything, chest-beating and hair pulling to your basic level-headed fair-thee-well type of thing. One thing I keep seeing is sadness that we won't get to see Moffat!Ten, which I gotta say, I don't share. I think it comes from my overall negative reaction to Ten/River, which I have to clarify is not a negative against River, who I loved quite a bit. Now, if Moffat brings her back, it will be with Eleven and I'm ALL OVER THAT. In fact, I'm deeply excited by it. Anyhoo, carry on.

I leave you with "Who Pooped in the Ballot Box?"
