--Aww, Eleven was all right. :) A bit Tennent-ish like someone said somewhere, but thankfully less shouty (srsly), and less, um... ferret-like. what? I loved 10, you know I did.... And, like most actors really, his finer moments where he truly shined where when he contained that frenetic energy. For every Doctor, when they do that, that's my Doctor.

--I am predisposed to adore most every companion, and Amelia/Amy Pond is no exception. Actually, the moment where I truly loved Amy was when she was in a background shot, the Doctor in the forefront, running after him, and she had to jump this little chain fence but she was wearing that short skirt, and she had to do this little hop over it. <3

--Moffet likes bodies of water in names, I guess?

--Can't say I was wowed by the plot... But, you know, I hardly ever was wowed by DW plots in the past, so I'm not sure why I should be now, except everyone hails Moffat as the second comming or something. My unpopular opinion of the day is: Moffat = RTD. I saw barely any difference in writing, characterizations, or ridiculous plot. Perhaps that will change. Not that I need it to change, I'm just saying.

--Did anyone catch the crack in time & space appearing in that electronic readout in the TARDIS? That's a neat detail. Obviously the set up for the arc of the series.

--The new TARDIS is neat. :D

Indeed, indeed...that's been getting a lot of chat.

and you know, I'm not at all surprised that you don't see a huge amount of difference between RTD and Moff. I'm guessing a large part of the OMG-LUV for Moffat is based on "Blink" (which is an excellent ep), but I suspect a lot of folks were just tired of Rusty.

(which...lord, I don't know if you've ever registered for Gallifrey Base, formerly doctorwhoforums, formerly Outpost Gallifrey - 26,500 members even *with* all the name changing/owner changing - but I swear you'd think RTD had committed mass murder instead of being the man responsible for bringing a long-dead cult favorite back from the beyond)

Oh good. I would despair for the lack of attention of geeks these days if that had been missed somehow. *g*

Uh, yeah, and that's probably why I'll never go. DW is a fun show, but the fandom is real drag sometimes.

Haha, yes! I noticed that on rewatch and it cracked my shit up. :D

I do love most DW plots, but agree with you that the change to Moffat was not particularly overwhelming in its difference...I loved RTD though, so am apparently biased.

:D :D It really cemented her as a character for me. lol.

Well, you know, whomever is driving the DW boat, the show is all about love, anyway. :D

Yep. I enjoyed it. :) And I agree, Eleven was alright. I did my own review on my LJ.
The casting of Matt Smith was national newspaper and tv news here in Britain, and I was one of those who was aghast when I heard.I'm happily eating my words.

My son saw him in something a few weeks ago, and raved that he was a brilliant actor. That and Moffat being in charge made me think 'wait and see'.

And Moffat has done amazing eps. The one about the galactic library, the 'Girl in the Fireplace' didnt he do the one where the scary gas mask wearing child keeps going 'are you my mummy?'. And as for 'Blink' anyone who can make children and grown ups frightened of statuary, is a genius. I went on a trip to Pris months later, and there were fricking stone angels ALL OVER THE PLACE. On a riverboat on the Seine, I looked up and saw a giant one leaning down with a drawn sword, off the bridge we were just passing under, and my inner 7 year old emerged and I screamed the place down. Embarrasing for a middle aged woman!

Thing about Who that is what is often forgotten is that it is first and foremost, a childrens' scifi programme. Adults over here are watching primarily because as small children they watched it -and 'hid behind the sofa- and now watch it with their children. RTD with all his faults- and dont get me started on them (Rose obssession! Martha getting one season! Donna getting ret-conned!) did something amazing with the re-launch. It went from cheesy, don't watch it after age 12, to must see family tv. 12 million people watched Tennant's last episode as it was broadcast.....
