Ack! Disaster! May day May day!
Sep. 11th, 2004 12:30 pmSigh. So, the inevitable has happened and my trusty little toshiba laptop my have crashed. *SOB*
It booted up like always this morning. Then I noticed it had gotten some spyware, so as I was trying to deal with that, on the first reboot it... well it never came back. I get the first Windows 98 splash, but then it goes to black and a message on the bottom with a lot of numbers and [TTFontDimenCache] repeated several times, with the numbers being different and then:
"Windows my occasionally fail on this computer.
You may want to replace your 80386 processor.
Press any key to continue."
It doesn't continue, however. And I've turned it off and on 3 times and I get the same message each time. So, it looks like Windows is failing. It might be the processor. And in any case, repairing it may not be worth it. I have to call Toshiba and see, but I've long since lost all warranty, on it (it's quite old), so.... bye bye my sweet.... *SOB*
Luckily! I'm pretty much all backed up. The HD may be intact, and maybe I can save the rest (like my icons. wah.) And also, I have my iMac! And my Dad has a computer and my Mom has two computers, and I also have two computers at work. So, we are not cut off entirely.
But my little baby.... wah! We'd survived one previous HD crash before.
The iMac is lovely, but it doesn't have MS Office (which I do use a lot) or Photoshop, and I was hoping to use it soley for vidding, so I may invest in another laptop. It all depends.
*SOOOOOOOB*
If anyone knows what that message might mean, please tell me! Thank you.
