I feel almost normal again!
Oct. 1st, 2004 11:40 amA friend of a friend gave me MSOffice for Macintosh, and so now I feel at least one step closer to functioning without my trusty little laptop (*SOB*). He suggested a dual boot for switching between OS X and OS 9, which I may take him up on, later.

There's some lovely new stories in HL which I'm all yay about. There was one posted to the lists which I don't think is available online, sadly. I liked it a lot and it got a fair amount of attention which is also good, to encourage new writers *g*. And I recommend the story, to those who are subbed to the HL lists. Although I liked the story, it stopped working for me when we finally got to the sex. I loved a flustered Duncan, unsure of his attraction to Methos. And I'm fine with seeing him (and Methos) struggle with accepting that attraction and dealing with the shift in sexual orientation. But, and I don't care how strictly heterosexual you want to paint Duncan, I will always be thrown out of a story if he's the least bit inexperienced in bed. And I don't mean with men, I mean with sex acts. It's like no sex with men equals no ass play, or something. Anyhoo, I realize this is more of a kink thing -- the deflowering of Duncan, or maybe it's that Methos does the deflowering, or whatever. Hasn't ever worked for me once in a HL story, where the men are, you know, 400 and 5000, respectively. *g* Still! It's a lovely story and it has a sweet seduction.

I have vacation in two weeks. I. Cannot. Wait.

I read this article, Porn Stars in the Library?, courtesy of Bookslut, which, I dunno, I found mildly interesting. Particularly on the very obvious dichotomy of what is allowable and acceptable reading material. You can find reams of Romance novels in a library, some with pretty explicit sex acts, but they're all iffy on a book like How To Make Love Like a Porn Star.
This line made laugh, however: Despite the oft-heard accusation that libraries are a hotbed of Internet porn, it seems they're still not the place to go for the hardcover version.
Hotbed of Internet Porn! hee.
