My sister and her two small children (ages 4 and 2) have descended upon us from afar. This is good, because they live very far away and we never get to see them. The last time my parents got to see the kids was two years ago when little H. was born. This is bad (or rather less than ideal), because we don't have tons of space at home and fitting two very wiggly kids plus their mom is not an easy thing. But it's all good. Or it will be, as soon as they get over jetlag. They were awake at 3:30 this morning... eep. *g* They're cute, tho, little rugrats. I'll have to take pictures and show you all.

~~~
I saw this Wish List meme first on [livejournal.com profile] tzikeh LJ, and then subsequently on nearly everyone elses. *g* I have a hard time asking for things, especially when someone might see it and feel the need to buy it for me. Which, I know is the purpose, but still. It makes me squirmy. Anyway, I like the idea so here's my wish list.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fic or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My wishes:
1. Buy something for either me, yourself, or someone you know from The Animal Rescue Site Store or The Hunger Site store, or indeed from any of the sites on this network. If you're going to buy me a t-shirt, I'm a small!
2. A Jack/Elizabeth Pirates of the Caribbean story. *g*
3. Pay for 6 months or whatever for someone who currently has a free LJ account.
4. A 80GB or higher External LaCie Hard Drive. That's a big gift. I'd be perfectly happy for someone just to keep an eye out for sales or deals or point me to a place that's cheaper then buying it from Macmall or the LaCie website.
5. I do have an Amazon Wishlist. It's under my real name. Those of you who know it or are clever and have figured it out, I'd love anything from that list. :) (those of you who don't are free to ignore this wish! *mwah*) But again, don't feel you need to buy anything! meep.
6. A hug, next time I see you.
7. Answer someone elses wishes.
8. World Peace
9. A pony.
10. Johnny Depp. ;)
