A happy Thanksgiving to you!
Nov. 24th, 2005 11:23 amThis time last year my sister and my niece and nephew were home for the holidays, and so my Thanksgiving was way more chaotic. *g* This year, my parents and I are not having Thanksgiving with the other members of my family who live in So. Ca. (and I'm sorry to say I'm relieved about this. I adore my cousins, but I just don't have the desire to put up with the animosity between my aunt and my mother. they always put me in the middle and I hate that.)
So, this year we're going over to my Mom's friends house. I'm bringing along a friend of mine who has no place to go (couldn't very well have her have Thanksgiving all my herself, poor thing). Should be entirely low key, thank goodness.
I'm thankful for my wonderful apartment, even though I *still* haven't put up any artwork and roomie S and I *still* haven't bought a dining table or any more furniture for the living room. (What can I say. It's a combination of a) laziness, b) no money, c) don't have the time! *g*)
I'm thankful for my stubbornness, because sometimes that's the only reason I get anything done.
I'm thankful for the beautiful California weather, even when it's unseasonably hot.
I'm thankful for my job, which is the first place I've worked at where I'm not feeling the need to flee nor having fits of near panic attacks. I'm thankful I got the promotion, because if I hadn't, staying at my job would have been very awkward and I might have felt the need to leave.
I'm thankful for Jane Austen, and Highlander, and Battlestar Galactica, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and Alias, and Lost, and yes even Harry Potter. I love them all, and life would be dull without them.
And I'm always thankful for my friends on and offline, my family even through they drive me crazy, my health even though my eye keeps twitching, and lastly, I'm thankful for my dreams because they keep me going.
love,
hafital
