That interview meme!

Here's how it works:
1. If you want to be interviewed, leave a comment here.
2. I'll ask you five questions.
3. You'll post the answers on your own blog or lj, along with these rules.
4. If anyone replies, asking you for five questions, you'll ask them.

1. If there's one story you've not yet written in Trek fandom (any Trek) that you'd like to see finished, what would it be?

I would love to write a Chakotay/Paris one day. I've only ever had one story for them, and it's pretty much my typical angst wallow, with plot, spanning several years, and it would be fun. You mentioned before about being done with a fandom, having that itch scratched, and Voyager is definitely one where that itch has NOT been scratched, particularly with C/P, for me.

By the same token, I kind of don't want to ever write this story. First of all, it's day has passed, mostly, although that wouldn't stop me from writing it, but I kind of like my on going love affair with Star Trek, and if I delve back into it on that level, the level you have to go to in order to write in a fandom, I'll likely then be done with it forever, and I kind of am just happy having it be a lingering love.

I never had a desire to write in any of the other Star Trek shows, aside from ST:TOS. I still have one or two story ideas for K/S that I never got around to. Sometimes I wonder if I will write them. I don't feel any *need* to write them, more a desire to have had written them. *g*

2. Your perfect vacation? In as much detail as you'd like to give.

Well. First of all we have to differentiate between taking a trip and a vacation. There are a # of trips I would love to take. I love to travel, and there is still much of the world I haven't seen and lots and lots of places I would like to revisit. I didn't see enough of Spain while I was there. I could easily spend months in England -- one day I shall visit the Peak District (Derbyshire! Mr. Darcy! Not to mention Crash of Light *g*). I would take a Jane Austen tour (and a Thomas Hardy tour) I would love to visit Scotland one day. I would also love to visit the Middle East, when it's not so scary, and Northern Africa. Antarctica!

But, as for vacation, it's simple. Beach! lol. Beach, sunbathing, bike riding, maybe some low stress hiking or nature walks. Tropics or more temperate climate are fine. I always dream of one day owning a house that's on the beach, very much like the house we see Sydney and Vaughn in at the end of Alias *g*, that just opens up on to the beach like that. The beach house would have to be equipped with TV, DVD, and internet wireless, of course.

3. What was the first book (not counting picture books) that you read that you remember?

Oh gosh. *big eyes* Um... I think it might have been Ozma of Oz. Or possibly the Nancy Drew Mysteries. I vividly remember getting Ozma as a gift with the assurance that I would like it, and I remember not being sure I really wanted to bother. *g* But, then, I think it must have been the illustrations, that convinced me to try it out. It's possible there were books before Ozma, but that has always been a milestone book for me. In any case Ozma of Oz was quite revolutionary.

4. Is there a woman in real life that you think of as a role model? Either someone you know, someone from history, or someone in the public eye?

Ever since I saw The Hunting of the President, I've been in awe of Susan McDougal. I can't imagine going through what she did, but that's not even what leaves me in awe. It's that she didn't break under immense pressure.

I went to high school with a woman who's daughter was kidnapped and killed horribly at the age of 5. Erin started The Joyful Child Foundation, to help prevent violence against children. Whenever I hear Erin talk about Samantha, I always cry. And, I don't know how she made it through something like that. It's her strength that I admire. And that she can still laugh.

I always say I want to be Maggie Smith when I grow up. *g*

When I was in Europe over the summer, I was fascinated by Empress Elizabeth, of the Hapsburgs. But she's not so much a role model (although I *do* aspire to become Pirate Princess of the Universe), just a fascinating woman.

And I've asked this one of a few people already, and merricatk asked it of me, but I still love this question:

5. If you could spend the day and/or evening with a fictional character, doing anything, who would it be, and what would you do?

heeeee. :D Golly, the possibilities! Honestly, right now, I would want it to be Tom Paris, and I want him to teach me to fly. Or possibly, we could play with his Captain Proton holodeck program :D :D. But I'm seriously tempted to say Duncan. I'd let him choose the activity. heh. Preferably something with no swords or head chopping.
