I need a time turner.

Okay, as much as I love VVC it could not be at a more inconvenient time for me this year. I'm still going, but it's making my life difficult! I've got a million things to take care of before school starts this coming Monday and no time to do it in.
*mild panic*
Well, I feel better complaining, anyway.

melina123 has successfully managed to pimp me into Battlestar Galactica, the wench. No small feat, let me tell you. heh. I've seen all of season 1, including the beginning mini series. Especially with the complexity they're going for and the wonderful acting, and the overall look of the show. I love Starbuck. She's fascinating to watch, for some reason. And also Commander Adama, Apollo, the President (long have I admired Mary MacDonell in everything she's ever in!) and everyone else. All the characters are interesting and I've become invested in each of their stories. I'm all about Starbuck/Apollo (I've seemed to have misplaced my slash habit. How did that happen?). Although, I can tell, for me, watching BSG is going to be less about the pairings and more about the whole journey of the show, 'cause, you know me, I can't watch a show unless I like the whole show. *g*
And this is all by way of saying omigod! the season 1 finale! eeeeee! I totally did not see that coming! I was as shocked as I was with the Alias season 2 finale, which is to say pretty damn practically knocked off my butt. I think I cried (or at least had to daintily dab my eyes) at Lee Adama's face after his father got shot, not to mention my own reaction to Cmdr. Adama's blood pooling all over the place. (Yay Edward James Almos! Yay for hispanic actors. woo!)
So, eeee! *g* I haven't seen any of season 2 and nobody better spoil me. I suppose this means I will have to, like, pay attention to the SciFi channel now.

Date: 2005-08-16 07:55 pm (UTC)If that series had a flaw it was that the opening miniseries and '33' were so matchless that what followed didn't seem quite as good as it actually was. Which was very good.
I haven't seen S2 yet either - hasn't started showing here yet. Despite the fact that we got S1 months before you Yanks. Odd, that.
I just wish BSG fandom wasn't all Starbuck/Apollo or Apollo/Roslin - there's nothing in there I want to read.

I agree they didn't match up well and I was a bit confusled, sort of like there was an episode preceding 33 that got lost or something. But it was all good, in the end. Didn't bother me for long.

That is odd. I wonder why.
I have no desire to read fanfic yet, which I'm very glad about. I have no time! And I generally get more annoyed with fanfic with such a young series, rather than assuaged by it, but that's my own peculiarity. *g*

Date: 2005-08-16 08:20 pm (UTC)I'm glad there wasn't any episode in between them. I love in medias res beginnings. We didn't need anything to set up '33', we were just thrust straight into the action. And what action it was.

Date: 2005-08-16 09:11 pm (UTC)So, I'm at a equal rights fundraiser last Friday...
Date: 2005-08-16 09:54 pm (UTC)So gay, the poor, poor man. On the other hand, we went on quite happily to talk about how beautiful Apollo is, and how much we love his biceps.
Anyway, I'm thrilled to hear you've fallen; and there's some fine stuff behind door number 2 when you get a chance to catch up. And I'm with you, the President is unbelievably compelling -- when she's on screen, I'm watching *her*, even if the other person is Starbuck.
Good luck getting ready for VVC, see you there!

Date: 2005-08-16 11:34 pm (UTC)It's not Starbuck's hotness that I find compelling, tho. (although she is hot, definitely). I think it's just some great acting and also having, for once, a very different kind of female character to admire and watch! She's beautifully flawed in a way that male characters usually are.

Date: 2005-08-16 10:04 pm (UTC)OMG, you hadn't said a peep about those discs I smuggled in that envelope, and I was worried you were mad at me or something for my pushy pimping :)
I will try to either copy disc 1 of season 2 for you before I go, or else I'll bring my copy -- maybe we can watch the premiere, at least.

Date: 2005-08-16 10:11 pm (UTC)And fret if you can't get them copied by VVC. It'll be an excuse to come over and watch them with you. *g*
Btw, should I bring these back to you? I can bring them to VVC.
