say what now
Jun. 8th, 2019 06:46 pmHere is a collection of things:
1. Surprise, surprise, this post is not *entirely* about the MCU or Endgame, though I don't think you all get to escape mention of it.
2. Went to see Ma, the horror/suspense movie staring Octavia Spencer. I went because I adore her, and because I wanted to support a female actress of color lead in a film, and because I wanted to watch Octavia terrorize a bunch of white kids. Though she does terrorize them a fair amount, there was less of that than I was expecting. It didn't get a high rating in rottentomatoes, which I'm not that surprised. But it did genuinely scare the bejeezus out of me a few times. Also you get to see Luke Evan's (probably fake) penis for a moment in one of the more horrific parts lol. I didn't like the ending, but I loved Octavia's performance, as well as Juliet Lewis's performance.
3. For the first time in several movies, I kind of want to see the new X-Men movie. Because I like the actresses, and I'm having a thing right now were I'm like, yeah, kill everyone! Do it! For each movie I've seen recently where there's someone killing others (I'm even beginning to side with Thanos...) I might be harboring ill will against my fellow humans.... Possibly. Naturally Dark Phoenix is getting terrible reviews. My inner cynic thinks this is because it focuses more on the female characters, rather than Charles and the Magneto.
4. I am...16,000 words into a new gen Steve post Endgame story. :D :D :D :D That I had figured would only be about 30k words, but i'm still only on the 2nd "chapter" of at least 8. :/ :/ :/ :/ :/. So now I have no idea how long it will be. : O :O :O :O. Guys. It's GEN. HELP. /o\ /o\ /o\ /o\ Had hoped on posting before Far From Home. :\ :\ :\ :\
5. After 20 minutes research in wikipedia, I have declared myself an expert on quantum mechanics.
6. Work continues to be crazy cakes.
7. At the end of this month I'm going to a super fancy hotel for 2 nights, for a friends b-day in the middle of palm springs. One of those nights I get to be ALONE in my fancy hotel room. I AM EXCITE.
8. I haven't turned on my TV in....3 weeks? I am in the middle of a (very very slow) rewatch of the MCU, with the hopes of seeing Endgame again before it leaves the theatres at the end of the rewatch. But honestly, it's like 15 minutes here and there on my computer, so we're not going very fast here. Despite a plethora of things to watch. I am not watching any of it. It's kind of nice.
9. Someday when I have more brain space, I will bore all of you with the story of my mom's medicare appeal.

Date: 2019-06-09 04:28 am (UTC)I've been an X-Men movie fan for as long as the movies have been around, but I read a recap and no. I was scarred by one terrible Dark Phoenix movie already. Not watching another one by the same dude who wrote the last one. Maybe you'll come away liking it tho. You're contrary that way. *g*

Date: 2019-06-09 04:40 am (UTC)I don't know why you would say that. *looks innocent*
I think I saw the other terrible Phoenix film! I think it left me confused lol. I'm definitely a fair weather fan of these films, and can usually take or leave them, so in that way it makes it easier to enjoy them even if they suck.
I feel we are likely be accused of being behind the times or whatevs for using gen, since no one in fandom under 25 apparently knows what it means, but *handwave*
Oh man. What is it called now?
