Don't ask me why I wrote that in Spanish. I don't know why.
I loved it! So much fun.
Things in no particular order:
~ Not being a comics reader I never heard of Mysterio before they announced he was in the film, and that JG was playing him. And that he had a fishbowl on his head.
~ No one had to tell me he was evil because his name is Mysterio. It's like, no on had to tell me Ego was evil, either, because his name is, you know, EGO. Comics...not subtle. This does not take away from my enjoyment of the films or the characters!
~ And then I broke my no trailer rule and they said he was from another dimension and that the elementals were from his planet or whatever, and I was like, oh he's for sure evil. You don't have a set up like that without him either causing the problem or being the problem. I should stick to my rule and not watch trailers.
~BLIP. haha. I could have done with more about what it was like to suddenly be unsnapped, but I liked what there was! Also, I appreciated the two seconds of footage of the kids being turned to dust in the pep rally or game and then suddenly being brought back.
~ Peter tingle!
~ I adore Mr. Harrington, although I felt he was sliding into camp and into the absurd in this film where in Homecoming he was more sincere and awkward, with better comedic timing. But that actor deserves to be cast in more things! He's hilarious, and has come such a long way from his Freaks and Geeks character.
~ EDITH. hahaha. Though, I did miss Karen. Where's suit lady?
~So yeah we all knew Mysterio was evil, but I liked just how unhinged he really was, and how wackadoo his plan was (and who on his team was like, you know what you really need? I fishbowl on your head!) Who knew BARF was gonna make a comeback, eh? Superheroes (namely the Starks, it seems, in the MCU. Let's not forget Vanko) always have to worry about those random people they inadvertently snubbed that one time who then turned into their nemesis. I appreciate that they brought back that one guy from Iron Man.
~ I liked the struggle Peter had. Really, his entire arc in this movie. A+. I mean, who wouldn't want a vacation after Endgame. And I wanted to yell "he's a TEENAGER" at everyone. Of course, Peter doesn't get to be a normal teenager. But the emotional arc in the film was handled well, I thought. And it was great to see him find his feet on the Stark plane, building his suit.
~ The best part of the entire film was the scene between Happy and Peter on the plane. Jon Favereau has never been a deep actor, but that was a good scene.
~ Beefeaters with machine guns. Nice. Poor London bridge though. It almost fell down!
~ I love the FOS team of MJ and Ned. :D I'm glad Betsy was part of the crowd -- that actress was the kid from Nice Guys! I loved that movie. I barely tolerate Flash, tbh.
~ Night Monkey!
~My one eensy complaint about MJ and Peter was wanting to see Peter realize he liked her. At the end of Homecoming he's not there yet, and in this one he already is planning romantic Eiffel tower revelations. When did he figure out he liked her?!?!
~ EARTHQUAKE! sorry that wasn't in the film just my recap getting interrupted because SoCal is shaking
~ End credit scene the first! - Oh no! Damn that Mysterio! That's not cool.
~ End credit scene the second! - haha Fury's vacationing with the Skrulls. I mean, I guess that's the only place he can vacation.

Date: 2019-07-06 10:10 pm (UTC)You know I'd forgotten that we'd never gotten the dots connected from Peter to MJ. I just took it for granted when I was watching this movie cuz every Peter has an MJ. I wonder if there's a deleted scene out there somewhere?

Date: 2019-07-07 01:26 am (UTC)I know! On the whole I thought the film was a bit cavalier about the "blipped" (I don't know how I feel about that term...) but of course it isn't a drama. So it kind of just brushed right past whatever trauma. But those poor kids! lol.
