meltdown at cobb vanth's saloon
Feb. 2nd, 2022 12:29 pmokay okay, I know reviews for The Book of Boba Fett haven't been that great, but my investment was pretty low and I am enjoying the heck out of it.
I mean, I'm not sure anyone at Star Wars Headquarters knows what they are doing, but a) that has never stopped them before and b) do I care? Not really, if I'm being honest haha.
~ First, I like this version of Boba Fett. He's cautious, honest, wily, probably not quite ruthless enough for the crowd he's running with, and a survivor. He's kind. But still ambitious, but not for money or power, but to build a tribe.
~ Everyone says the 3rd episode with the Tuskan Raiders was the best episode of the series and they are right. The series really explored something great there, but then it all ended.
~ Not only did the 3rd episode give us an understanding for the Tuskan Raiders, it gave us wonderful character development for Boba. And it introduced the live action Pike Syndicate. Them some bad dudes.
~ My biggest critique of the series is not really the slow pace or the lack of action (both of which I'm actually enjoying somewhat) but that it has odd beats for the beginning and ending of its episodes. I think the pacing of the story is not quite working with the way they broke down the episodes and series arc as a whole, but that's a common enough symptom for these Disney+ shows.
~ I want Black Krrsantan to just casually walk through every scene, staring at everyone, holding his various weapons, but without actually doing anything.
~ I did not go into TBoBF expecting to see Din, Grogu, Luke, Ahsoka, R2, the Armoror, AND Cobb Vanth.
~ But then they had to go and bring in CAD BANE. What's next???? No seriously though, if we can have Cad Bane, can we have Hondo as well??????? Why not Rex?? CODY???? *breaks down*
~ The first time the camera looked toward the desert and we saw a blurry, wavy, image of a man wearing a hat with a wide brim, I lost my shit. And then I was petrified for Cobb. Cobb is an excellent marksman but no one ever wins against Cad Bane, unless they are a Jedi. Cobb better be alive and recovering nicely though.
~ I know a many are annoyed that Boba Fett's series got hijacked by The Mandalorian, and I do question some of these choices, but I am also very much enjoying how the many different threads of this post Empire landscape are weaving together. It's a more connected universe.
~ I see a lot of hand wringing over the no attachment thing and Luke giving Grogu a choice to stay or to go and the sidelining of Boba in Boba's own series and I'm both feeling a lot of the same but also ignoring most of the chatter about it.
~ This is how I see it going down: There's going to be a big showdown on Tatooine (obvs). Grogu is going to choose to return to Din. Luke will bring him to Tatooine. Luke and Grogu will joing the fight with Din AND Boba (whoo boy!) and everybody else (i mean WHY have him show up in this series if he's not going to go to Tatooine???) to help save his home planet. Won't that be fun? Grogu may or may not stay with Din after, or maybe return with Luke.
~ I am of very mixed opinions about whether Grogu is better off with Din or with Luke. Which is kind of the point and the problem.
~ ETA: Credit to Luke for being the only one to mention that Grogu is going to outlive everyone and how that effects his choices.
~ ETA 2: I'm too sad and continually heartbroken over Order 66 to comment on the flashback.
~ ETA 3: I did not think we would get Luke and Ahsoka meeting but we DID and it was not enough but still perfect and I want so much more. Wah. *sob*
