First of all, I loved every goddamn second of this movie from start to finish. I sat in the audience with a tub of popcorn and a big grin on my face the entire time. It was two plus hours of pure joy.

Second of all, say what you will about Taika but he makes heart rich stories. There's a lot of whimsy and humor and jokes and whatnot but when you boil it all down his stories are all about enduring love. Even What We Do in the Shadows, which is more parody than anything else, is ultimately about friends and family who take care of each other. The emotions i felt watching Love and Thunder were similar to the emotions engendered in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, where by the end of it you're jumping up and down and yelling go go go! You can do it! Wheeeee! Where it's more about finding love where there wasn't much of it before and therefore you're set free.

Third of all, it really is all about Love and Thunder! Exactly what it says on the tin. You get what you paid for in this movie.

~ I love Jane Foster, and I especially loved her as the Mighty Thor. The cancer storyline was sad, but she found such grace in it, and she just kept marching forward and never let it stop her, and I love her for that. I've always loved Thor/Jane, which to me has always been beautifully doomed but no less true just because they don't get eternity together. Thor really loves her and I love him for it.

~ Loved the flashback to young Frigga with baby Thor tied to her in an Asgardian baby bjorn flying into battle. Yes.

~ I was glad all in all not to get too much of the Gaurdians. They were kind of in and out of it fast which was fine by me.

~ I have been a fan of Christian Bale since I was like 12 years old and I saw him in Empire of the Sun. Gorr was tragic! That first scene with his daughter ugh, that was a lot. Heck, I'd pick up the necrosword and start killing gods too if I were him.

~ I loved the tone they struck with that first god -- Gorr's god. Gods are historically such treacherous creatures, so fickle and cruel and indifferent to mortal suffering, even those that love and worship them. I love that he bled gold.

~ VALKYRIE my king. I did not know her flying horse could portal you around places that is AWESOME and why did i not know that before!?!!!???!!!! Anyway, Valkyrie is the best and if I have any complaint about this film at all is that she and Jane weren't making out every second like they are clearly meant to be. They had such a fun dynamic and I loved them together. The AU to this film is Valkyrie and the Mighty Thor team up defending New Asgard and Earth together forever. I need about a thousand What If episodes where they save the galaxy a few hundred times.

~ Every second of Russell Crowe as Zeus made me woop with laughter. "Ah, I flick too hard." HAHAHAHA. He did that on purpose. The whole Omnipotence City was great. Not least of which that we got to see Thor's butt. Very good looking butt. And a close up of the tattoos though it went too fast and I couldn't read all of them.

~ Before I go further I LOVED the screaming goats. OMG THEIR FACES WHEN THEY SCREAM. hahaha. pure love. i love goats. I want them.

~ Also before I go further, I am in love with how this film makes canon that Mjolnir and Stormbreaker are sentient. Yes goddamn it they are sentient. They make choices. They choose. They have inherent knowledge. They are magical weapons that are tied into the cosmos of the universe you bet they're goddamn sentient. But Thor inadvertently putting a charm on Mjolnir to protect Jane and not realizing he did that is so perfectly Thor and I love him and Mjolnir a whole lot okay.

~ Also Also the way Stormbreaker kept creeping in on Thor whenever they were displeased ahahahahah i love you Stormbreaker too there is no need for jealousy.

~ ETA: I forgot to mention the Dumpling God, who I will now be worshipping.

~ Surprise Sam Neill is always welcome. Along with another Hemsworth and that Jason Bourne guy. Yay for Asgardian Live Theatre! Also laughed out loud at Melissa McCarthy as Hela.

~ Korg was great and I'm really glad he didn't die. I wrote him a death scene in my Stormbreaker and Starborn stories and I still cry about it. But, he lived! And he finds his own love story yay. Taika slapping a mustache on a kronan is hilarious but I guess they can grow facial hair? Their god had a full beard.

~ Heimdall's son, Axl aka Astrid! lol. Cute kid. I loved that he and Thor could communicate long distance with their magic eyes or whatever. I wrote something similar too and I love stuff like that. Thor imbuing all the kidnapped kids with his power almost made me cry it was all so hilarious, goofy, endearing, magical, triumphant, silly, and heartwarming all at once. The kid with the stuffed toy who was just like yelling hahahaha. Then, Thor threw Stormbreaker to Axl and, like Heimdall before him, Axl opened the bifrost and got all the kids home.

~ As soon as final scenes started in Eternity (which I loved btw, the starry Eternity against the white background), and the scene after where you see Thor and Love (i.e. Love and Thunder) together, I began to think that kid playing Love was India, Chris Hemsworth's daughter. And she was! Giving her dad a hard time. hah.

~ Mid credit scene: Surprise, Zeus is not dead, and double surprise his son Hercules is none other than Roy Fucking Kent from Ted Lasso.

~ End credit scene: Surprise, Jane makes it to Valhalla, as she should, and who's there to great her but Heimdall! aaaaaaaaah. It said Thor will return at the end, which okay, I'm good with that, and I will never turn down more Thor, but if they're making Thor 5, Even More Thor Than Before, I want Heimdall back from the dead please and thank you. Also, Taika, work your magic on Chris Evans and get him to agree to a Steve/Thor cameo. That's all I ask.

I wished I had known about the cancer storyline going in, for reasons of cry prevention due to a couple things being a bit too close to home, but I otherwise agree the entire thing was delightful! I think my fave part of it might have been Russell Crowe in his little skirt and with his ridiculous accent, I burst out laughing every time he had a line. He chewed that scenery right off the walls while still somehow managing to Do Good Acting! - and I know he was laughing right along with everyone else. Loved sentient Stormbreaker especially also. And the ridiculous fight scenes! And Korg and his dude, ahaha. So great.
