If anyone else sees interesting commentary or discussion, let me know. I've nosed around, but have become wary of reading negative reviews. I'm okay with some critique of the film (barely. LOL) but I'm going to just get sad if the reviewer didn't like the direction (or saw no direction)the characters and the film went in.

Hey thanks. :) That links mostly to posts about the racisim in the movie - which, are all valid points - but less what I want to talk about. I can't argue away the color topics about this movie. *g* They're there and they're really annoying because TPTB could have done without that rather easily.

I am sadly totally focused on the pretty pirates.

I'm so shallow. I'd love to focus on the pretty pirates, but in this movie, worse than the first, the dirt turns me off. I don't care how authentic is that coating of motor oil everyone seems to be wearing -- to me, it's too suggestive of rancid smells and tastes to be the least bit sexy. Damn it. Damn it again.

Bwah! Er, yes, Pirates are not a clean breed of human, that's for sure. And I don't think the PotC movies even show 1/5th of the actual dirt these people would be living in. heh.
