I have an unpopular opinion!

The Ransom of Richard Redstone is a great episode! *g*
hee. Well, okay, maybe not great, exactly. But it is a lot of fun, imo. I always felt sort of silly, since everyone, including TPTB, cite this episode as the worst of the entire series, and I'm always thinking "but I *like* that episode!" I even like Richie in this ep, and that's saying something. What, I don't know, but it is saying something. Like maybe I'm a lot weirder than I had previously assumed. Also? Duncan wears glasses! And walks with a limp. And in the flashbacks he has really bad hair and a bad tie and does silly disco dancing moves and I find the whole thing just adorable. And it cracks me up that in the flashbacks they have "Funky Town" playing in the background. giggle
And just why was the LeMartin ancestor painting sensual (albeit not very good) portraits of Duncan? Hm? There's a story in there somewhere, there is.
Duncan: "How was I?"
Richie: "Not bad. A little over the top.
Duncan: "I thought I was excellent."
Richie: "I'm sure you thought you were excellent."
Duncan: "You know I was an actor once."
Richie: "I've heard."
Duncan: "I played Shakespeare, I played all the great parts."
Richie: "I know you did."

Date: 2003-11-26 11:31 pm (UTC)I agree it was far fetched, but it surprisingly doesn't bother me the way just about every single other Richie romance subplot bothers me. I'm not sure why, however. *g*

Yes! And his modeling days. hee.

Date: 2003-11-26 11:44 pm (UTC)I always forget about those glasses until I happen to watch this episode for whatever reason, and then it's always this big revelation. :)
(I reserve that for Innocent Man. Hey, does that count as an unpopular opinion?)
Yes, Innocent Man isn't a favorite (although I like the flashback. big surprise there! *g*). As much as I'm fond of Season 1 (and I do love Season 1, which is perhaps another unpopular opinion) that one really isn't very good. *g* But it doesn't bother me that much, despite that terrible Randi MacFarland person and boy am I ever glad they got rid of her!
For me, I have the most problems with the Immortal Cimoli. Just can't get into that ep all that much, despite the cute Duncan/Amanda-ness of it. And also, despite me rather appreciating the not-quite-bad guy in it. I find that ep rather more unsatisfying than most of the mediocre eps.
