Now, a more substantive post than my last.

I hope everyone is doing well! I do read my f-list regularly, but I know I miss things. So, tell me anything you want that you think I should know! I want to know.

So, on to fannish things!

I have finally finished all 3 books of The Hunger Games Trilogy: President Snow came a-knocking )

Yes. Well.

And then, I finally managed to go see Ironman 3 this friday. Thank goodness. I was getting desperate, avoiding spoilers! Also, this'll tell you how very well my blinders work in my attempt to remain spoiler free, because I had no idea Shane Black had co-written and directed Ironman 3. No, it's true, I had no idea. And then I was really desperate to watch it because everyone was going on and on about Shane Black and comparing Ironman 3 to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is only my favorite movie ever. No, for serious. There's this very interesting article, "Shane Black Solves his Third-Act Problem", which I recommend.

Anyway, I don't have anything very critical or important to say about Ironman 3 except I loved it all. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is still, imo, a smarter script, but they're really too different to compare, even if Shane Black's hand can clearly be seen in both.

Nothing but love here: )

But while I was successful in not spoiling myself for Ironman 3, I couldn't seem to avoid spoilers for Star Trek Into Darkness. Which was too bad. But whatever.

[personal profile] killabeez has already said nearly everything better than I can. And she points to [personal profile] liviapenn's comments, whom I also agree with. But here's a bit more:

Star Trek Into Darkness/the JJ Abrams ST films )

Okay, I'm done.

Yesterday at work felt like the longest day, as days tend to be before holiday vacation when the office feels vacant and you're wondering why you bothered at all. And I said to my co-worker, omg this is the longest day. But tomorrow is the shortest day! And it's also the last day. haha.

~~

Somehow, it is fitting that the supposed "last day" on Earth is also Duncan MacLeod's birthday. :) There's a story in there somewhere.

I'm sure all Highlander fans on my f-list are probably already aware, but the Highlander Holiday Shortcuts stories are now being posted, 5 a day. So do yourself a favor and check them out. I'm hoping to do so as soon as I clock out.

I'll be driving down to see my father for the holidays tomorrow. My mom's in Europe visting with sister girl, so it's just me and my dad this year. I'm hoping for a stress free drive!! Unlike last time. My car has been working perfectly, so I don't anticipate any problems. (After a $1000 bucks, one should hope so.)

In other completely non-Highlander news, I too have marveled at the new Star Trek film trailer that was made available not long ago. So shiny!

Quick thoughts )

Quick movie rec that relates to Star Trek --

If you like Chris Pine and Denzel Washington and haven't seen the film Unstoppable, I highly recommend it. I don't know of any other action film where the stakes are super high and I'm on the edge of my seat, nail biting and then jumping up with arms raised, but at the same time there are no gun fights, no fight sequences, no conspiracies, nor aliens or monsters or bad guys out to kill you at all, nor anything that you would relate to your typical thriller action film.

This was also Tony Scott's last film before he died, and for that it's worth a watch, too.

So, I spent all day yesterday thinking I had left my cell phone at home, only to come home to find no cell phone anywhere. Where was it? At work. Under a whole lotta files and paperwork. Yes, ladies, I am that much of an airhead. *takes a bow*

~~~
[livejournal.com profile] astolat and I were commiserating and complaining to each other about our respective fandoms.
I was all "OMG with the FIGHTING and the WANK and why did I have to go and get involved with a fandom where the characters LEAVE and even the Doctor changes and you just have to accept it! And even the writers aren't spared. WOE."
And she was all "DUDE, try American Idol. It's WORSE because at the end of each season it's like they DIE, the show kills off all of the characters! TRY THAT."
And then I was all "OMG you're right! That is worse!" *clings to DW*
hee.
The Dark Knight and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus )
I like Simon Pegg. He should be cast in stuff I watch all the time. Hollywood, please provide, ty. *flutters eyelashes at him*. link once again courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda.
I've been mostly silent on the upcoming new Star Trek film because it looks too good to be true and some of the casting, I must confess, leaves me a little cold, but [livejournal.com profile] killabeez is working hard to make me excited for it. :D
VVC is right around the corner!! woo.
