Last night my mum and I went to see Mary Poppins: The Musical. Which, well, I'm not gonna lie, the movie is a gazillion times better imnsho, but the stage production had its charms (terrible child actors aside). They changed the story quite a bit. There was some new songs and music. The two actors playing Bert and Mary Poppins were very good. And importantly Julian Fellows wrote the book (jeez, is there nothing that man can't do?) which was a nice surprise and pretty cool since he is one of my writing idols.
I realized, while watching Mary and Bert dance on the rooftops of London, that I am a pretty hardcore Mary/Bert shipper. Yes. Step in time!
Never need a reason, never need a rhyme.

Date: 2009-12-17 08:05 pm (UTC):-D I showed Mary the movie a month or two ago (amazingly, she'd never seen it) and she ships them like burning. I hadn't seen it in ages but the monstrous childhood crush I remember having on Dick Van Dyke was fully vindicated on the rewatch.

Date: 2009-12-17 10:43 pm (UTC)Yes, this was pretty much my thought while sitting in a dark theatre. And the Bert for the production was very Dick Van Dickish and we were far enough away that I couldn't really make out his features, so it all worked perfectly. :D

Date: 2009-12-17 08:17 pm (UTC)And Yuletide archive has a story or three, I believe, for this ship. (More should be written, though.)
(Need Mary Poppins icon)
(Doctor Who will serve, as clearly Mary Poppins is a Time Lady and her carpet-bag is her TARDIS)

O.O
...I LOVE THE WAY YOU THINK.
And, I was actually thinking about you in particular after posting my comment, as I remember us having a similar discussion about the OTPness (hurr hurr Pness) of Eglantine/Emilius in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

And I think Mary escaped the Time War by hiding out in a chalk sidewalk drawing. Bert may have kind of kidnapped her to keep her from going back to Gallifrey.
*cough*
NO I HAVEN'T THOUGHT MUCH ABOUT THIS WHY DO YOU ASK.
