Finished watching all aired episodes so far:
~ It's really a very charming show. I adore it.
~ Overall, I thought season 1 was better than season 2 (so far). The show is *more* ott and unbelievable in season 2, not less, which quite frankly is going to keep me a little removed from it. Their cons seem to depend on people being complete idiots. Also, the show is crazy heavy handed about its little missions and stuff. I thought it was ironic in The Iceman Job that they all ragged on Hardison for playing it so heavy handed, when the entire show does that in every damn episode. And bless them all, but those dear actors have to sell it every time and there is only so much sincerity I can buy.
~ However, once we're past the initial set up, that doesn't seem to affect how much I love the characters. Which, always, characters and relationships are the way to my heart.
~ I've read here and there in episode commentaries some dislike of Nate/Sophie, but I like them together. It's complicated and slightly unhealthy for both but interesting, and I love what they've done with Sophie's crisis of identity, following Nate's crisis. They're probably better off not in a relationship with each other, at least not any time soon, but I like their chemistry. It's interesting.
~ Although i'd like to point out that I can't see Nate with anyone else. I've seen some Nate/Elliot and I just completely recoil. It's definitely the vibe he gives off of being a parent to an unruly bunch of kids. It's skeevy to think of him with any of them.
~ Oddly, I don't feel the same way about Sophie paired with any of them. I especially love Sophie/Parker, which is a bit more sisterly and gentle and not particularly sexual but still something, and I kind of love them a lot, and next to Eliot/Hardison, Sophie/Parker is my next favorite pairing.
~ Partly because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Parker with any of the guys. I dunno, I think she's a little too damaged. Although, I can't deny I'm intrigued by Eliot/Parker/Hardison, but only if it's done right, and the little bit that I've gone searching has only been pithy porn, which, I dunno. For a show that's so ott and ridiculous, the characters are really kind of complex. The fiction should reflect that. Admittedly, I haven't gone looking to hard because I as avoiding spoilers.
~ It was nice seeing Jeri Ryan again, but I really really hope Sophie comes back.
cripes. It's 12:30. I've wasted away the morning! Oh sweet sweet Saturdays, how I missed you.
