Unexpected William Shatner is Unexpected

William Shatner has a charity event he puts up every year at the equestrian center where I ride. I've heard about this, but have never been around at the same time as the event until today. Anyway, my western class went over there to watch some of the reining, which was cool. By complete accident, we managed to be there at the same time that WS was showing one of his horses, so I got to see him do a reining pattern. I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty awesome. And completely unexpected. I mean, a) I had no idea the event was even going on until I got to the barn this afternoon, and b) did not expect to be anywhere near WS. Afterward, I went to check out all of the tack and clothing that was on sale and got to see him even more, sitting in his tent, all relaxed and stuff. He rode really well, a lovely palomino. He's pretty solid in the saddle, hardly moves. lol.
And it's a testament to how ho-hum I've gotten about celebrities -- even those from fandoms I've written in -- that I didn't even register that he was Captain Kirk until halfway through his pattern. And then it kicked in and I was like OMG I'M WATCHING CAPTAIN KIRK RIDE A HORSE. WHERE'S SPOCK??? haha.
