misadventures of the mom kind
Mar. 10th, 2019 10:09 pmAs if last week didn't already suck, the mom came down with appendicitis late Friday. O.O Not exactly how I planned to spend my weekend, waiting around in the ER and then in a hospital room. Oy.
Took her to the ER on Saturday at around 9, and they had her in the OR by around 3pm. They kept her overnight, and she got released around 4pm on Sunday. It was very quick, as these sort of things usually go, with no complications, so that's all good. Although apparently the infection was pretty bad and they have her on heavy course of antibiotics. I was a tad worried during the surgery, mostly because when she had her gallbladder surgery the anesthesiologist made such a big deal over her history of cerebral aneurysms they had to do a cerebral angiogram and have her consult a neurosurgeon. So naturally at the ER I was like 'omg please do not be exploding her brain if possible." Anyway, they did not explode her brain, and she came out of the OR fine. If cranky.
It was also the same hospital that they took Luke Perry to, and I could not stop thinking of that the entire weekend. It was also the hospital my friend T was in and out of during the worst of her battle with cancer, and the one my dad was in when he first got diagnosed. It's the closest one around these parts. My aunt worked there in the NICU for years, and I remember visiting her once and how wild it was to see her handle all those babies. Anyway, hospitals! They are both wonderful and horrible at the same time. This one is permanently stuck in the 90s. All the furniture is like right out of star trek voyager lol.
Speaking of 90s. Despite all the mom drama, I did manage to sneak in a viewing of Captain Marvel.

In other news, needless to say I did not get much writing done this weekend, which sucked. :( I tried writing in the hospital yesterday but only managed like a paragraph. And did it have to be daylight savings on top of everything?? Also also, I went out Friday with friends, and let me tell you experiencing the ER while hungover is just loads of not fun lol. Blergh.
